@DanO has Sterling told you that oplux can't be spliced? Or shouldn't be spliced? Seems like there are folks doing sliced eyes on oplux and wanted to hear more about your experience.

I wasn't aware that it could be spliced, I was told by Wesspur that it had to be sewn and Sterling will also sew it. Didn't ask Sterling about splicing as their timeframes and costs are too high. I'll do more checking.

Hum...well I've used it all season long and it's as tight as it was the day we got it back from knot and rope. That's my year long experience so take it for what it's worth.

Oh...one more thing. We called Wespur first and they said they would sew it but before they will do a spliced eye, they wanted to do their standardized testing on the rope itself.

Here's a picture of the Oplux sewn eye that I got from Sterling originally. I had plenty of left over rope so I sent it off to knot and rope to make up a lighter weight lineman's rope and a tether. Used them all season long and everything has been perfect!

LOL...can't argue with that statement.

I'm not a big risk taker but I do feel very confident in the splice. Just showing you guys a spliced eye and that it can be done. If you don't want to get one...don't get one.

Take a look at the picture I posted of the "SWL" on the sewn eye from Sterling and see if that blows your skirt up! Lol

I was just pokin fun. Kinda like when my boy asked me how long his fish could go without eating.........My response was “until it dies”:)

Interesting. Sewn eye looks intriguing but I find a Figure 8 on a bight is so small and compact with Oplux that I don’t think I’d entertain switching.

Again, I've been in knot and rope. The storefront is very small, but it's a pretty impressive operation which supplies to both arborist and climbers around the world. If they we aware of my intended use and sold me that splice shown above I would feel confident in it. That's just me being there and speaking with them previously.
I may go down there sometime soon with the Oplux that I have and ask some questions and maybe have some perform a splice or two.

I tied a scaffold knot to a Kong triangle for my Oplux rappel rope. It is unobtrusive and fairly streamlined. I do like the look of the spliced eye better. If you go, please post whatever you find out. Better yet, shoot me a PM before you go. If I can get free, I could just meet you there since it's just a few minutes away

I know that we, WEI, were told by Sterling that it could not be spliced. Obviously there is a way. But manufacturer wouldn't recommend it before
