Anyone have some insight to things to see and do? Looking for nature walks, waterfalls, parks, spectacular views.
Not interested in stuff you can do every where. But if there is anything unique to Maine that's cool to see. Never been there and have always wanted to check it out.
What do you got?

Two suggestions:
1. Mount Katahdin - the highest mountain in the state of Maine, and the termination of the Appalachian Trail that through-hikers take from Georgia to Maine.
2. Acadia National Park - the only National Park in New England. Literally hundreds of miles of bike/carriage/horseback/hiking trails in beautiful wooded areas, ocean-side hikes, rock climbing, cycling, kayaking, etc.

Small falls near rangley, ME. You can jump off and slide down the rock slides.

Angel falls is pretty.

Portland area has a lot of breweries which are great, I recommended allagash or Maine beer company.

We went up there in 2016. We stayed at an ABB right in the inside corner of the Penobscot bay. The place was Stockton Springs, a shade north of Belfast. We absolutely loved Maine!! It was the first time we were ever there. A 32’ Wright Whale had almost gotten stuck in that bay we were staying the year before. The place we stayed was a nice little one story home I mean right on the bay apparently it was an old clam mill. Steele Island was a few
Miles down the road from us. We got settled in and then went for a quick drive down to Steele Island and the first thing we see while walking the dock was a seal encapsulated in a fishing net! I thought it was a dog at first. The marine life was terrific. They have so much going on their DNR has two major divisions one for interior wildlife and the other for marine wildlife and fisheries. The lobster trap lines are outrageous I have no idea how the commercial guys keep track of their traps. We didn’t do a lot of the fancy stuff choosing instead to try and see the more common things. We loved just driving down to a local dock every evening. Starfish, squid, shark, they even eat the squid ink!!! Talking to the fishermen. It’s all over the docks up there. We certainly went to Acadia, Bar Harbor, Check out the Penobscot Bay Bridge and go up in it. Pretty amazing engineering. Also check out the first Fort Knox. My wife has a cousin up in Bangor so we went up and visited them for a day too. The AFB was nearby so my wife’s cousin’s husband and I and the kids hung out for awhile watching military aircraft one afternoon. Don’t plan on doing a lot swimming we tried but I don’t think the water gets much above 55degrees up there at any of the public beaches. Be sure to go to Freeport one day and check out LLBean…. That place
Is huge!!! We went to interior main too. The blueberry’s grow wild along the roads. Bushes are only 2-3ft high at the most but all over. I love blueberries!! There are these antique shops dotted all along the roads too. Everything is outside you can’t miss them. We just touched the surface all of us said we would go back again for sure. Oh yeah and tons of cool lighthouses to check out too!!

I also wanted to add, I never slept so well as I did when I was in Maine. The nights would cool off
nicley even in the middle or end of July with just the windows open. Also, like we have chicken BBQ’s all over here, main has Lobster festivals!!! You go and gorge on delicious lobster and it’s way less cost up there !! We brought back 18 of them to keep them from going bad we had to blanch them then dunk them in an ice batch then we froze them. They were a welcome treat a month later long after we returned home.

The town of Rockland has the annual lobster festival and the town of Yarmouth has an annual clam festival. If you want a great little day tour then go to the town of Boothbay Harbor and book a trip on the Bennie Alice to Cabbage Island. I'm a native Mainah and I take my wife and grand daughter on this trip every summer. You get on the Bennie Alice and they give you a narrated tour which is about 45 minutes or so out to Cabbage Island where you will enjoy one of the best lobster bakes in Maine. The blueberry cake they serve at the end is worth the ticket price. Great staff that wait on you hand and foot and I can't say enough good things about the owners. Super nice guys. Check out there website Cabbageislandclambakes. Get your tickets and get in line an hour before boarding if you want a good seat on the boat. You can reserve tickets online too.
As far as scenic views go then Height of the Land on rt. 17 in the Rangeley area is hard to beat imo. I've lived here for all of my 61 years and haven't seen half of what our state has to offer. Hope this helps and pm me if you have any questions. I'd be more than happy to help if I'm able to.

Stripahs, Stripahs, Stripahs.

Depending on what time of summer you go, you can catch the striped bass migration. Some of the best surf fishing around. You can even go sight fishing in Casco Bay like they do in the tropics....

And yes, I used that tagline spelling for a reason. I've seen many a career sidelined, and a few dudes with "some explaining to do" because they used an extra "p" in their spelling when describing their fishing plans for the weekend. ...:)

Been there, but many years ago...mid/late 90s. We went to Bar Harbor, which is Mt. Pleasant Island and went on a whale cruise for 4 hours. Seen some whales, a lot of seals and got sicker than a dog because I didn't take my dramamine. Went out on another one the next day AFTER TAKING dramamine and I was fine.
Our motel was part of the diner next door. So, we ate fresh lobster with an ear of sweet corn, cole slaw and a soft drink for $8.50. :) At the time, market price for fresh lobster was $22. I love blueberries and they're grown in Maine, so I had blueberry pancakes for breakfast, every day!

We left that area and went inland to Rangley, Maine, to see some moose. We were told about a salt storage area for the county garage and that's where the moose would show up in the evenings to lick the salt off of the rocks. This was early August and the bull moose had full sets of antlers. I seen one bull moose that had a rack that must've been 60" wide. As we were leaving a young bull moose decided to walk along side of our mini van and his shoulders were as high as the driver side window.

Hike Acadia National Park, if you go in September when acorns are falling you'll see many deer, and some giant bucks. No hunting there for years.
