Tethrd Mantis & Aero Hunter Kestrel Comparison

Very well done!!! Great comparison between the two saddles. This video will help answer a lot of questions people have.
 
Thanks for the compliments guys, I'm enjoying making these short videos. As soon as my SYS Hauler ES, Recliner and Micro Adjusters arrive I'm going to do a full review of the Mantis.
 
I find a really significant difference to be how the bridge is reinforced.

On the Kestrel/Kite, there is a point where the reinforced portion ends. Once in awhile my bridge attachment will catch on that point, then when leaning into the saddle it gives and you feel like you are free falling for a millisecond. I really do no enjoy that sensation 20 feet in the air and cuss out the designers every time it happens.

The Mantis has a larger reinforced portion, and used thinner tubular webbing so that point is eliminated.

Ha I had the same experience the other day also.
 
Received my Tethered micro adjusters tonight. Only thing Tethrd designed I haven't been impressed with. The G hook you can't use one-handed. Should be a plastic ladderlock. And it doesn't take up nearly as much slack as the New Tribe adjuster. Which for me is key because that is my comfort adjust to walk in with the saddle. Kinda negates the weight advantage if I can't wear it hiking in. I can't get the Mantis to where I feel I can walk comfortably in it.

Interesting. I have not received my micro adjusters yet but find the Mantis much better for wearing while hiking compared to the Kestrel. I tuck the bridge under my my saddle belt and I forget it's there.

I agree, I always feel like the Kestrel is sagging down.

Great video. As a very happy Kestral user I am having a hard time pulling the trigger in a Mantis. I have the Kestral all set up and perfected. Don’t really want to start that process again. Both look like fantastic options. Honestly we really cannot go wrong with either.

Great comparison

I have hunted out of both the kestrel and now the mantis this season...

Really no difference in comfort.
As you mentioned the mantis is much lighter
A plus for me... the kestrel is hard to wear into a hunting spot for me it tends to fall off my butt... no problem with the mantis it stays on when walking in. That may be a problem just for some people. I always had to wear suspenders with the kestrel

The mantis has much less over build IMO... which makes it lighter.

As you mentioned I wish the leg straps on the mantis had some type of keeper.
