It was a LOL.i see where they glued, roll pinned, and did the press fit/expanding end caps
but where are you getting threaded on and welded? they did that too?

5lb .300 win mag is my favorite. Or the “this gun won’t shoot” when it has the thinnest barrel on it and the gun heats up now. I’m with you on “light” isn’t always the best.I hope these sticks work out for everybody involved, I get the ultralight craze, tents, guns, canoes you name it I’ve spent big money on ultralight options, that being said I’ve almost come full circle on some of this stuff and if given the choice between durability or super ultralight, I’m usually picking the durable and reliable option, pins, glue, plastic this or that have very few places in the environment I operate in when climbing trees, sub zero temps, miles from my truck sleeping out of a tent, time will tell, a 1 lb stick sure is appealing.

My thoughts exactly. Tough to pay over 3x the amount of heliums to simply get up the tree.Did they address the glue issue? Tempted, but wary. I got to handle a set and the weight is pretty incredible but falls way on the want side of the want/need spectrum. My heliums are still great sticks and they are 100% reliable.

I had one… in lefty, it wasn’t that bad in all honesty, I should have kept it, Melvins 3 position safety bolt lock deal fell apart in my gun room and I lost interest quick after that, he answered on the first ring though and mailed me the parts for free asap even though I bought it used. Too bad he’s getting done.Lol my brother just bought a ULA 300 win mag …

anyone know if the end caps are locked in with glue or, better yet, the roll pin?
i'd hate to lose one if they are keeping the steps snug on the tube
I don’t know for sure but since they are press fitted, I don’t think they are.

Wouldn't you want the cap to come off to fill the tube with foam?
3 packs are a deal killer…. Doesn’t even make sense to not to sell a pack of 4 or per stick.

To give Tethered the benefit of the doubt, which is something I have not done in the past. Since this is their first container and supplies are really limited they are going with 3 packs. Maybe on the next container or two they will offer singles. If you need a 4 pack or a single it may be worth a call on Monday and ask.3 packs are a deal killer…. the end caps are press fit and only pressure holds them inif they didn't at least put some jimping on them and then some glue in those grooves (can't smear on a smooth press fit, i wouldn't think, or it all will squeeze out), then my prediction is that after a season of use in varying temperatures that we're going to see those caps fall out and the steps become loose again
launching it only as a 3 pack, when they know there will be a lot of people wanting 1 stick or 4, makes me a bit leery (looking at bottom line and not the customer much....they are hoping people will buy the 3 pack and then sell 2 on various classifieds)...there's no legit reason not to bust those 3 packs open and sell 1 at a time for slightly more per unit....the site says they are pre-packaged in 3...as if their hands are tied and they don't own a box cutter and a cardboard box with packing material (lame excuse like a a car rental giving you a trashed car and then saying 'well that's how the last person dropped it off')....also, this would make me think they aren't inspecting all of the sticks as they come from china and go out the door to you
i was about to post a thread about this
i want them, but like others said, won't spend that money until i know the steps aren't coming loose again
if i had even seen a solid bolt instead of a roll pin, i'd probably be more tempted
one thing they could do is make the step/standoffs fit over the ends so that neither end can slide towards the middle (they have a cap in the step with a hole to allow water to drain).....then connect the two ends with wire rope inside that is very tight....so the steps hold each other on
