I’ve found some old whisky stills that were long out of service. No pics though...was after a gobbler and didn’t have time to stop and take it all in.

I been seeing threads about hunters leaving stands and etc in the woods and whether if it's legal or not. I thought I would start one to just post pics or talk about things we have found in the woods, whether if its illegal or not. It could be a deer, critter, or anything that made you snap a photo of it. Today was a first for me though, and the reason I wanted to start this thread(last pics).....

Those are some pretty woods where the burned Ol Man stand is! Love the well burned pine woods!

This kind of stuff is what gives a bad image to the general public. I get mad when I see this kind of abuse to a tree. I'm no flower sniffer but take a kid out there and try to explain this to them when they see it. The only thing you can say is, some people are slobs and the ones that do that aren't hunters in my book. As far as the homemade stands, I've been guilty of that my self when I first started hunting...... to spend money on a stand back in the day was looked at as a waste a money. Heck sometimes I didn't want to spend the money on a tree stand myself!! You spend enough on a bow or gun or whatever then you have to plunk another $200 or so for a stand and steps etc. You know the thinking back in the day was, " Just grab some old two by fours out of the barn or shed and put something up." Man, have things changed. For the better!!!! Thankfully saddlehunting and sandhunters have alleviated the need for this. And you're not leaving it in the woods, you leave the woods like you found them.

I've found several things, will have to go through my pics later

I wish I had all the picture I have this topic I could go on forever about. I’ve also found a old set of big log grabs that had one tong broke completely off some how in the same area I found the big cypress tree. Also have a picture somewhere of an old tree stand made out of a 50 gallon metal drum.

I was in a deer lease several years ago that had 2 or 3 ol stands made out of 55 gallon drums. One of the old timers in that lease said they had killed a lot of deer out of them over the years, but they were unsafe to use now, which I believe! They appeared to have been nailed directly to the tree with a ladder run up to them and you just stood in the barrel til a deer came by. I had some pics at one point, no clue if I still got any.

I’m pretty sure that’s exactly how this one was done. And for the back they just cut the barrel about half way done and made flaps from it to partially go around the tree to have a way to attach the barrel more secure.

Found a mountain of about 50+ tires today and some filleted 16” crappie. No water or tire stores in these woods. Pretty weird.

Can’t find the photo, but strangest thing I’ve found was a tiny bottle of Old Spice many miles from any road or trail on a ridge in the Ozarks. Glad it wasn’t fresh, but definitely had me scratching my head.
Also, while hunting in a military base, found two 100 round belts of unused blanks.

Still don’t know what this is/was. It looks like some kind of bone/skull with what appears to be a speaker and wires coming out of it. Did not find anything else around it. Probably about 8’ up in a tree.

Who wants to guess what this was meant for?

Where the skys are so blue!
I think the one that always makes me scratch my head is the old 1950s fridge in the woods. Nearest road is 2 miles north. It's up high enough that it couldn't have floated down the river. No other signs of habitation or junk piles. How? Why? What for?

I stumble across a lot of shell middens. Those are always cool. Technically counts as trash, right?

Bone Thugs 'N Harmony? Isn't it just a melted speaker?

Round thing looks like speaker (with wires). The big thing looks like bone. And there were other bone like pieces around the tree.

I only guess someone attached the speaker to the bone to amplify the sound.
