the wife wants to come out for obsevation sits so i just got to buy a new saddle!

Idk why but when I saw this I thought of the movie “the bad son” when he says “if I let go do you think you can fly” as their both high up in a tree haha

Lol you are all too funny, definitely not the turn I expected this to take over ight lol. I've had the snip so I am free to rut without worrying about future fawns and it's great lol.
Sorry man!! I hope you and your wife squale some deer this season and have a great time doing it!!! :sunglasses:

I'd recommend only releasing an arrow on a deer you're 99.9% confident in double lunging. She may never let you hear the end of it if you released on a deer and it ended up doing the front leg drag because you ended up spining it. It would be a terrible first experience in the woods for her.
My wife spined her first deer last year and want to never make that mistake again.

Yeah in all seriousness it is tough for anyone to see but for someone new to hunting and completely unaware, it can be shocking. I grew up on a small farm so one tends to learn the cycle of life early on. There is a non emotional component but with faith God gave us dominion over the animals. That doesn’t mean to hurt or mame purposely but to use and be wise stewards. Everyone and thing has to die somehow, to a new hunter especially in the modern age of Disney and assigning human traits to animals…. It can be rough. Animals are far more harsh to each other than most people imagine.

No, dont do it.
Read above again!!
I took my wife fishing and now all I am doing is netting her big fish!
Nothing would make me happier lol think of the hobby budget...

I am going to have to find another place to practice though, the mature black walnut in my back yard(along with about half the trees in town) blew over in a storm tonight. Going to see about salvaging the wood for lumber at least...

Taking your wife hunting or fishing is nice and all but, look out this also can be extremely dangerous. Financially, stress, and just total life altering ways. Especially in a blind.
Just do remember the most likely outcome 9 months later.
I took mine a few times early in our relationship 30 years ago and to be honest there wann’t much hunting go on.
More like heavy rut activities,
Socks lost, bra, mismatched undies, etc.
Just a heads up from a fella who has been there done that. Ya might be playing with fire
Lmao

If that is fire than I would gladly get burnt.

How well is she going to handle being blindfolded on the way to and from the stand? She cant tell anyone where you hunt if she doesnt know.
I could cover my wife in compasses and GPS's and she would still have no idea how to get out of the woods. She can shoot the eyes out of anything but Lord knows shes never gonna find her tree without me even if shes been there 20 times. Great woman... but dang is she dumb with direction. Ive tried everything to teach her. Even with a working smartphone she cant figure out how to backtrack half a mile. Trying to teach her how to use a compass was like trying to teach my dog how to drive my truck (at least he would give it all hes got!)

Had a compass that the needle would stick a little. It always worked after a good shaking and smacking it with my palm. Dont try that with your wife.

Your a lucky man is all I got! My wife don’t even want me killing deer! She said pigs were ok though…..said they were mean!

On a serious note though... Dont give up too much of your alone time in the woods. Thats important for your mental health and just being a man. My wife and I hunt a lot together, we always have. But she understands how important it is that i get to do my own thing and vice versa. Nothing worse than a stage 5 clinger in the deer woods.

my twin brother cant do anything without his woman attached to him. Always trying to tag along for fishing trips (and she gets sea sick!). Drives us all crazy.

I have a twin. And his wife is more clingy than mine but I'm jealous of him because he gets to spend time with his wife.

Glad I'm not the only one with one of those. I play the "Which way to the truck?" game with her every time we're in the woods. 75 yds from the truck and she has no clue. Luckily our daughter inherited her sense of direction from me. She would almost always get it right from a very, very young age.

A bit of a story. Early in our relationship, some 25+ years ago before we had cell phones, I took my wife on an early fall trip to my deer rifle blind to get it ready for opener. When we got there I discovered I had left something I needed to prepare the blind in the truck. I decided to save time I'd just send her to get it while I rebuilt the logs walls. I sent her with simple directions: "Stay in the bottom of this valley and follow it until you get to the old logging road. When you hit it turn right and it will take you right to the truck. Coming back just follow the road until you go down the hill, turn left at the bottom of the valley and follow it until you see me." It was about a 1/3 of mile one way and the area was a bit thick but the terrain was unmistakable, at least to me. A half hour went by and I started looking for her. After 45 minutes I started to get a bit concerned. I walked back out to the truck, no wife, and the thing I sent her for was still there. UH-OH . . . not good. If she got turned around or missed the logging road she would have about a mile in any other direction before she came across another road. Now I'm really concerned.

I retraced my path back to the blind yelling for her hoping she had just gotten slightly off course and was within earshot. No response. I got back to the blind and still no response so I decided to circle back around toward the truck hoping I would come across her yelling as I walked. About 300yds directly behind the blind I could see some color in a small clearing. It was her sitting on a log crying with her head in her hands. Somehow she had completed a full hard turn up a steep hill in the wrong direction and ended up due north of me instead of the westerly direction I had set her off in.

You've all heard the old joke about determining if your dog or spouse loves you more by locking them in the trunk and seeing who appreciates you more when you let them out. I experienced a similar result as you'd expect here! :tearsofjoy: To this day she still gets a bit ornery when this story is retold.
