Getting aggressive on a hot scrape line. Waldrops Packseat, Bushrag Ghillie and homemade ghillie cape...... had 6 deer within 15 yards this morning, drew back on 4 of them with zero detection..... now just need a larger cage

Sounds like a blast. It’s a different feeling when you are that close and on the ground. I don’t have a ghillie suit because by the time it’s cool enough rifle season is open and I can’t see putting an orange vest on top of a ghillie suit.

I feel you on that one. I got a ghillie suit on clearance this year, though, and its1 made of lightweight material and mesh. It's surprisingly cool. I've used it a couple times in archery-only areas when it was warm, and wore shorts and a t-shirt underneath. I was plenty comfortable. You may be able to find a similar one that won't bake you in early season heat.

The pacseat eliminates any chance of me ever using a hangon again I think. Saddle and ground hunting are just too evolved. Sitting with back bar up against a big tree is quiet quick and deadly camo.

I’m just glad I got my team points out of the saddle so I don’t feel bad plucking a few from the ground.

Get in their world sometimes!

Do you ground guys ever use a saddle at ground level or is it just too much exposure?

I have tried a Ghillie a few times but found it tough to get a shot from and never found a great seat. I think I need some type of swivel.

The saddle at ground level would make shooting a bow in any direction a lot easier but it comes at a cost of being exposed I guess. It seems that deer see movement on the ground easier than way up a tree which makes it darn tough with a bow.

I've been hunting off the ground all season, waiting on my saddle to come in. It's been a lot of fun and I've been able to fill the freezer with does so far, and shot a great buck but wasn't able to recover it. I like the fact that I can quickly make a move and get in the game if deer are moving just out of range.

I used my sit drag at ground level a few times this year... probably the first time in 3 years I used it how it was designed to be used.

Apparently DaveT does. I know he mentioned it somewhere. Ive been seriously thinking about it but just haven’t got through my mind how I’ll be situated.

I use mine at ground level all the time. Typically, I set up between a group of trees or with a bush behind me. I have also set up in a tree with low hanging branches that provided a canopy.

This is where, I believe it was Dave that introduced, the diy pvc blind stakes become real handy.

Ive killed 2 halfway decent bucks this year a foot or so off the ground using a saddle/predator. It has changed the game for me. I haven’t had to use a ghillie I just take 3-5 minutes to brush myself in.

That’s awesome! Do you prefer a bigger tree to hide behind? How do you brush in? Any pics?

I don’t think tree size matters near as much as your cover. With good cover, I think it’s all about having everything covered in your body and sitting still. I even keep my eyes squinted when they are really close. I don’t know how to post videos so here is a screen shot of a video and you can see a some of the stuff I put around me.

So are you tethered to the tree as normal but your feet are on the ground? Do you have your tether behind you on the tree? I keep trying to picture this is my mind but I just can’t see how I’d be positioned. I going to have to try this when I”m not out hunting.

I set my predator at my knee height and hunt like I’m 20 ft up except I leave my pack and stepps on the ground if I have em. I can loosen my tether and step all the way on the ground if I need to get anything
