Time to change it up

Hey guys, I've been lurking on the forums for a while now trying to get some ideas on how to better my saddle hunting experience. I have been saddle hunting exclusively for 2 years in a homemade sling saddle that i'll put on here a little later.

Here is what I want to change up. I want to upgrade my tether from the accessory cord/prusik combo to climbing line and ropeman 1. I am seriously considering the sterling HTP snakebite in 10mm from sherrill tree.

My main concern is how easy or hard is it to splice? Part of the reason I want to switch is I don't like the big knots in my current tether (I am trying to get my setup as compact and streamlined as possible). I like the yale bandit but 11mm is a little big for me. Have any of you tried splicing this rope or know a comparable 8-10mm rope for me to look at?

Thanks in advance guys!!!Screenshot 2017-06-15 at 8.57.38 PM.png

Haven't spliced anything personally, but I think someone said the snakebite rope was pretty hard to splice. Possibly @bowhunter15

I haven't tried the Snake Bite. I made mine from Samson Predator and that was very difficult IMO.

Thanks guys!
@bowhunter15 do you find the predator to be to bulky in you pack. I've watched you're videos and you seem to try to go as light as possible like me.

Also. Would Yale bee line with a small prusik make a suitable tether. It is made to be a prusik cord itself, but I don't see any reason why I can't use it as a tether to save bulk. Maybe I'm missing something?

It takes up about half of my dump pouch. Not terrible, and it's good piece of mind. For my linemans belt I'm only using 8mm line which is intended for prusik. I imagine it's similar. It would probably work as a tether, but the arborists recommend the thicker stuff for their main lines, so that's why I stuck with the predator.

Don't go too skinny with the Ropeman. It does squeeze the rope. I've done 9mm Bluewater. I find the 'hang' more comfy with Bandit. The little bit of give feels nicer than full on static line and it knots better.

I do get the whole less bulk thing. But knots are dead easy and don't fail and can be modified and redone in minutes.

I've been wanting to try Canyoneering rope http://www.imlaycanyongear.com/ropes.php
