Top 3 Badlands Packs to Consider??

Any thoughts about the monster Fanny pack? I just took advantage of the 50%discount and should have one in couple days. Hope I like it. Never had a big fanny pack like that before. But it seems to check the boxes I will need it for..

I have had a few badlands fannypacks. Again, they are VERY well built, but I didn’t like a large fanny back. With a large fanny pack you tend to load them up. Once loaded, they are too bulky and weigh too much. In my opinion, if you need to use straps over your shoulders to support the fanny pack, you might as well use a backpack, which holds more and rides better. if I was using a fannypack, I wanted a small minimalist type that didn’t require shoulder straps. Another problem with fanny packs is when using climbers. The monster Fanny didn’t work to well with my lone wolf sit&climb. I’m not sure I could see them working well for saddle hunting either. Unless you eliminate Rope pouches. Just my thoughts. I probably still have a few of those fanny packs.

Not to derail the thread or anything, but I would like to hear more about this, haha...
Lol a big wild hog charged me while walking out in the darkthrough some thick stuff. Shot it at 10 steps. Thankfully had a pistol mounted light.

May or may not have had to change my underwear.

I was 1.5 miles from the truck and well out of cell service. Definitely glad I carried my gun that night!

Hakuna Matata!

My wife got me the Timber pack (I believe that’s the name) a few days ago for Christmas and so far I really like it. Not a meat hauler by any means but as far as equipment it has all the space I need plus the lashing straps for my predator (or hopefully lone wolf hand climber in the future) and the fold out shelf style interior which really works out for all day sits.

Ended up ordering the Diablo Dos. Should be in Monday and will have about a week to hunt with it and see how I like it before seasons over. Didn’t want to go too big but decided to get a frame pack for that hopeful extra weight here or there. Thanks for all the help!

Got my superday pack in the other day. Decent pack but the zippers suck. They stick and are not smooth. The two side pockets are tough to do with one hand.

I just got the sprint day pack, and the quality is there, but the material is louder than my other badlands packs.

That’s my problem with badlands packs. When you get it, they look and feel awesome. But when you are in the silent whitetail woods, they are loud and you can’t unzip the darn things with one hand. When you do unzip, it’s just noisy. But you can’t tear one up! Lol

yea might become my scouting pack. Not sure if it’s worthy to be my dedicated hunting pack. I like that it hydration pack compatible.

Thanks for all the insight.. like I said before I ended up going with the Diablo Dos and after a long but successful day yesterday using it I couldn’t be happier.

Big things I wanted to do was get everything on or inside the pack and if possible haul out a boned out deer.

Attached is a picture of all the stuff I carry minus weapon and the hoodie and rain jacket I had in it yesterday too. Then pictures of all of it easily packed in. You will also see the perfect spot for my perch. I don’t feel it at all while tucked in there because of the suspension system. I also bought the hydration bag and bow boot.

It carries great and comfortable for the 3+ miles my watch said I trekked. The zippers on the Diablo were super easy to open and close one handed. They were a tad loud but not bad. I did notice the inside material was a little loud but I don’t see myself getting in the bag much while in the tree.

I didn’t end up boning out a deer but 99% positive I will have the space and ability to comfortably carry the weight of it for a few miles.

Also will throw in a picture of our haul yesterday.

AronPaul, thanks for the update. Nice haul! Good to hear the pack is working well. Hopefully they have improved zippers and noise factor. I think they make a quality pack, and if they have improved those areas, they will be hard to beat. Glad it’s working out for you.
