Top of line sticks or go mid range?

I found a deal in some 24” beast sticks. Is the step spacing too far apart for a 5’10” guy?

Should be fine! I'm 5'4 and used them. The only time I had problems was winter clothes and climbing. I like the 20 inch mini the best for me.

I’m new to saddle hunting and I’m wondering about sticks. I won’t be walking miles so weight isn’t a huge issue, mainly quality and how well the sticks bite tree. Do I go Tethrd One Sticks, beast sticks or would skeletors be my choice?

I have been using 30" hawks for a few years now. I have never had any problems with them. No plans to change to something else. I am 220# so they are plenty strong. Bite well and don't kick out. Hackberry, red oak, white oak, pecan, sycamore, pine, cypress all have not been a problem. Paint them how you want and paint the straps.

I had switched to Amsteel, and it was fine, but went to the LWCG webbing no buckles. It’s superior for sticks than Amsteel. It doesn’t roll slip or pop as I’ve had happen with Amsteel. Take one of the LWCG straps off the buckle and try it. I couldn’t change fast enough
How do you tie it?
Is there a video?

Definitely not, I’m shorter than you and have no problems. Little trick that helps when wearing heavy pants/bibs that have a zipper that runs from your ankle to knee….unzip it, sounds stupid but gives more flexibility in legs/hips while taking big steps.

I have used LWCG beast and Shikars. Nice sticks but for the money I’ll stick with my 20 yo LW. I did add EWO double steps on them.

I started with hawks, liked them well enough. I thought “how could those more expensive sticks be much better?” Since I got the beasts I can’t hardly stand to climb the hawk. I think they really are that much better
I’m sure you’re right. That was just my 2 cents as a newbie. As I go I think we start to each determine what we “need” to spend more on and what works for us. That said I’m sure I’ll “need” to upgrade someday.

Beast minis with Amsteel aiders and versa straps to attach to the tree. Light, quiet, American made, bite hard, pack together well, and incredible quality. Just my 2 cents

Maybe buy the sticks that have the most attributes you prefer and least drawbacks. Prioritize what you need them to do, rank the priorities, compare the sticks against that.

As you can see, there isn't a consensus winner. People have different priorities.

I am by no means a Tethrd fan boy, but ill say this. When I got started this year I bought all Tethrd gear. 2 months into my season I will tell you I have sold all my Tethrd gear...except the Skeletors. At first I thought I overpaid and didn't like them. After countless climbs I now really like them. Worth the money. Their other gear...eh not really

I think it's all dependant on the person.. I initially bought all Tethrd too.. not sticks (they didn't have any when I started).. but i sold their 11 mm tether and lineman belt and the Phantom saddle... I do like their gear strap, pouches, and the predator platform though..
