Who uses tree spurs? I am considering taking the leap and trying the climbing sticks. I currently use climbing Spurs and am set up and tied in ready to shoot in 4 minutes. 20 ft high. Can someone please convince me to pay for some climbing sticks???

Why in the world would you wanna give up the easiest way to get up any tree anywhere for a less easy method of lugging extra gear and more work and longer setup. If you are like me i strap spikes on throw bow over my back and walk up 30ft. Strap in take bow off my back and am hunting under 5min.

To those who do...
What is your safety rig up when you do this? LInesman's belt, tether, both?
Any issues with the spikes clinking around on screw in steps?

I stand on branches but sure they would clank. I just climb tree with nothing. Some use a wire lanyard some use rope. I think tv has made safety way overboard over the years. I did, my dad did and his dad all hunted just fine without tethering ourselves everytime a foot leaves the ground. Can we fall? Yes. We can also get hit by lightning but we dont walk around with rubberized lighning suits on.

I know!! It is the simplest way period!!!!! Just wondering about the climbing sticks. Lightning fast and very light weight approach to saddle hunting. I use buckinghams with a TriTech rope flipline that has an adjuster.Once I tie off at hunting height, I then remove my Spurs and hang them on a separate bow hook on the back of the tree. I suppose I am just reading too much about all of the innovative ways to get it done.

I only take mine off if a hunt a place i have a hang on stand wich is rare. The spurs clank the metal wich is no good. Yes i even use spurs for hang on stands so nobody can steal it. I use them the whole time i am in my saddle so no way i am taking them off. I dont use any steps and such for a platform. Branches are better and if the tree has no branches it has no cover and i aint hunting in that tree. Sticks may be the best way for someone who cant use spurs. But right now you have the freedome to hunt anywhere you want with the least amount of gear. And fastest.

I climb tree make my platform around the tree then climb on up. I've plasti-dipped my steps and tapped them do no clanking if my gaffs hit

I do it exactly the same way as far as climbing, setting platform and then climbing up onto it. I remove my Spurs to get the weight off my feet so I can move around my platform with ease. I also remove them because I have severed my platform strap with a spur while maneuvering.

I hunt all private and have thought about trying climbing spikes. Right now I use screw in steps in preset trees or the one stick method for others. What are some good spikes? Thanks.

Look at Buckingham, Bashlin or Klein. I prefer buckinghams but you may like something else. Just make sure you get a positive description of the pads that come with them. They can be funny if you get some that are too beefy or too thin.

Make sure you get tree gaffs and not pole gaffs!!

They work but if someone was gonna buy a pair its better to get tree spurs instead of stubby pole spurs. Jmo

Tree gaffs are too long.

Really?? I have had a few kickouts with pole Spurs but I suppose if you are climbing hardwood then they would do fine. I like the longer gaffs , they seem to penetrate any tree I climb much more consistently. But, whatever works , works ;)

They aint to long when your climbing a tree with 2 inch thick bark. Plus feet are closer to the tree with pole spurs wich makes more noise. To each his own. But there is a reason they make pole spurs and tree spurs.

Boy there are a ton of choices on wesspur. Don't have a clue on the differences.
