I kid.

but I suspect these stick top platforms used For climbing won’t be as popular and useful as folks think when they buy them. I use mine on occasion. But I don’t like body positioning and how far my feet have to come away from the tree to climb from bottom step to top.

granted, I don’t use it often and don’t have a ton of time with it.

This will be the third season I’ve used my single stick with a platform attached to it. I have a few different ones I’ve made with various platform options, but they all adhere to the same criteria, the platform folds up to a point just below the top step because, like yourself, I don’t like the body positioning of maneuvering around a platform that sticks out.

You got pics of yours?

Ordered the 18” UOS with the UP on top and no aider. Don’t want an aider flapping in the breeze for the deer to see so I’ll use the knaider/swaider I use now. It’s great to have climbing options for different situations. Love the Beast sticks and predator but I’m thinking the UOS will probably be my go to when I go in deep. Can’t wait...

I did something similar, I just tied a barrel knot with 6mm rope around my canyon that I can slide up and down to hold delta link

Is there a better way to keep the quick link girth hitch from opening than using a gear tie?

That option allows you to yank on the rope and disengage, if you forget up top. I haven't tried myself, @Bwhana mentioned it this past weekend. I'm going to give it a try next time I'm out.

How far down do you slide it before you rappel down?

I slide it up through the link so it’s no longer a stopper. If I forget it’ll slide down the rope with the link anyway. It won’t jam things up like a gear tie can if you forget to move it.

Weird I meant to post the rubber fender thread ... good catch

I just ordered one. I said I wasn't gonna spend much extra $ on gear this year, but I've managed to justify it yet again. I blame y'all. If my overall climbing method can be sub 5 pounds, I mean, that's a no brainer. I already have 50 foot of Oplux that I use for work (hooking in while cleaning gutters on very tall roofs) and it only weighs 1 pound! So if this one stick weighs in at 2.8 or so, plus quick link and few other things- I am easily somewhere in the 4 pounds area! So pumped for this. Now just have to wait 6-8 weeks.

I ordered UP's on 4/3 and delivered today 4/29 FWIW .

I saw a UP in the classifieds this morning.

Can anybody speak to how the UP size and side tension compare to the original Predator platform.

It's rock solid on the tree. Size is a little wider but also a little shorter in length. It's perfect for one sticking!

Just the platform? wondering if sticks are still taking longer. Not that I need it. I am still 17 weeks out to the velvet hunt weekend and 22 weeks out until regular archery season starts again. I think it'll make it.
