Useful hunting related 3D printer files

Has anyone surface epoxied PLA and or annealed it to strengthen it?

Man, I keep finding stuff in this thread to reply to. I have annealed protopasta's ht PLA and polymakers pla pro. Just gotta be careful with the temp not to warp it. Having access to a calibrated lab oven helps alot with that. Take it off the printer still attached to the bed (glass bed clipped on is best for this). You can get the same result to a lesser degree just buy running a butane pen torch over the whole part carefully.

I have a coworker that is very into 3D printers and he really likes the Creality K1 Max Fast. I like the idea of having someone close to assist with any issues so I'm leaning this direction but want to hear others opinions as well (online reviews look great thus far in my searching).

The bed leveling on the elegoo's is my favorite part about them. Not having to deal with bed springs is a game changer coming from the enders. I still have to mess with a modded CR10S5 and a couple artillery sidewinders at work occasionally and I don't miss bed springs. I'm really considering an elegoo giga when it is fully released. I want to print a canoe, just to do it
I might use it to print forms and make a kevlar canoe.

having somebody you know with the same printer is better than having the best printer. I saw them advertising that one and speed looks impressive

@Gator what kind of phone holder were you thinking of using? The guy who made these files has a fluid head plus a phone holder. I’m thinking of something a little more basic similar to the CGM camera arm. I’m almost thinking of printing or buying a ball socket mount and adding that magnet base to attach to my phone too like my car holder. It would just hold the phone vertical like I normally do and I could start recording as I place the phone on the magnet. Interested to hear your and other thoughts 75079274-364A-4EB1-BF1B-CAF427551535.jpeg

I have the CGM reach around and it’s sweet. The clamp for the phone is very reassuring when 20’ up! I can pull the name off the clamp and ball mount if you like. I looked them up when I was considering upgrading my car phone holder. The ball mount was dirt cheap.

I was given a DJI Osmo mobile 6 for Christmas that I was planning to use or should say to at least try it

This what you’re talking about? You thinking about mounting the whole thing?

Not finished, just me being eager to Jimmy rig something quick to try it out. It was not bad for not being fully together. Could tell a very slight bend but nothing dramatic. Could tweak the design to remove the little play but I want to see it fully assembled first. I will try to get a mount and some proper hardware soon and update when I do. And a 5lb weight on the end for fun. F6BEDCF9-EC1E-41D8-86A0-AD046D145A09.jpegC825D674-7BCD-4C7C-85A6-E3EEF4F2ECD4.jpegE332992D-F2D8-4ECA-9274-3BB157C3FAE7.jpeg

That's it. Yes the whole thing. It will supposedly track a moving object on it's own which if it works on a deer would make self filming 1000% easier. I've heard they work decent but will lose the deer moving through thicker woods.

That’s sweet. I’ve wondered if they could track animals. I should have asked from the beginning. that will likely be overkill for something small like this.

How wide is the arm material? Looks about an inch tall/thick?

@7mmremmag what ball mount do you use for your cameras? That’s what I want to make next.

I haven't had good luck with any of the ones cheaper than this one. They rust pretty quick, the tension on the cheaper ones is inconsistent and gets worse over time, and some of them have pretty crappy mounting threads as well. My background is in machining inspection and quality engineering so I may just be picky about that.
