very new to this

2 TC and a ring of steps might be a good method to start with. You can probably pick up all the gear that you need on the classifieds here pretty cheaply or even make up your own kit. Calling @NMSbowhunter, @NMSbowhunter, please respond. lol. Oh, and welcome to the forum from Coastal Maine!
I'm here. I've just been busy lately. 2TC is a great option especially if you are blessed with a lot of straight limbless trees like I am. No method is perfect but if I am going to climb a tree to mobile saddle hunt 2tc is the best I have found. For fixed spots and where legal, bolts are my #1 choice.

That said, I did a lot of hunting off the ground out of the Waldrop Pacseat this past season and I can tell you it is very possible to get shots on deer of the ground inside 20 yards. The good thing about the Packseat, safety wise is if I fall out of it, I get a bruised ego, and that's about it.

Welcome from another born in the 60's saddle hunter. Lots of great advise, right here in your welcome thread. I have found with a saddle you can get good cover in lower trees where I would not have thought of hunting with a climber or a stand.

Hi I am 57 and this way of hunting looks very interesting butt haven't been up a tree in a long time. I was looking to try one sticking but man these one sticks are pricey. is there a cheaper one stick available? maybe I haven't seen it online yet but have been seaching. Is there a setup where I can modify to make safe ?? I have some ideas but like some other opinions.
Welcome, from upstate NY. My only tips are (1) don’t be fooled by the platform+stick combo sort of one sticking(it weighs as much as keeping them separate and heavier to move up the tree when one sticking); and (2) stay away from the 2TC guys they’re nuts.

now does everyone just bow hunt saddle hunting? I just bought a crossbow and most you tube videoes I see them mentioning bows only a few about crossbows.
I’ll often hunt with my old Exo Series Excalibur crossbow that quite literally has a 3 foot wingspan. I am mindful of where my limbs are at all times, but I’ve had no headaches with that setup.
