Just picked this up from a fellow SH member(sorry @redsquirrel ). It's awesome.appears to be complicated at first, but actually quite well designed, and doesnt get tangled at all. This is going to be great for those really cold days. Maybe I will be able to ditch my treestand afterall! Didnt have original linemans or tether with it, but is pretty simple--I found the original patent drawings so figure the whole thing out. Check it out!

The way it folds up is pretty slick, looks fairly light too.
Couldnt find my luggage scale this morning...think my 3 year old ran off with it. I"d say 3-4lbs with 2 oval biners and a HSS rope tether wrapped around it, not bad...I'm trying to compare it to the treesuite and see which I like better for a preacher seat style. I have long legs and kinda like this long stand-off post so far, but it definitely has more straps and stuff to get in the way.

That's pretty slick! If a Bosuns seat and a Guido's web had an anorexic baby, this would be it.
Pretty much right on. Love the fact that the stand-off folds left/right/or under. makes it easy to get into "lean" without it in the way.

I bet it's super comfortable. Should be a win. Again, how did I not know about this thing???

Sent from my Galaxy S8.

Here's the original patent and drawings/etc. Pretty neat.

That helps make all the straps make more sense...pretty cool.
Whats crazy is that single "sling" strap that goes over one shoulder makes the "safety" belt work surprisingly well as a back rest, and really holds the seat in place when you move around. Lots of interesting ideas hear...

Do you always use that top carabineer on your tether? It would make hooking up quicker, but I'd be afraid it could let the tether slip or maybe put side pressure on the carabineer.

That thing looks pretty cool. I've been wanting to try the boatswain style just not sure it makes sense for my setup.

Generally, yes, but with two wraps and a locking biner. 2 wraps keeps it from slipping down. If there is a branch around I only single wrap. It is considered a "friction wrap"(at leat 2 wraps) and commonly used in anchors for rock climbing and mountaineering. Hell, a bowline can be used in place of the biner if you want to. Here are the only scenarios you need to worry about biner load and what I consider the best/easiest representation: https://www.petzl.com/US/en/Sport/Examples-of-dangerous-carabiner-loading-

I always use a biner for tether... I repel so its a must for retrieving, Just have to make sure your using the right biner.
I'll have to give this a shot tonight. I like to get hooked up ASAP once I'm at height. For whatever reason I always feel the most vulnerable making the transition from lineman's belt to tether.

Definitely the fastest way to get hooked up.

The other think I like to do depending on tree size is just girth hitching the tree with a double length spectra sling. Pear shaped biner on end loop. I tie into the pear binder with a clove hitch(overhand backup on tail end). This gives you an adjustable length tether without a prussik(friction style) knot. Sometimes its a little easier to move the "point" of attachement around the tree this way if you dont like the direction the anchor is pulling in. also works great on smooth bark trees.

Looks like. Only drawback is that thanks to the biner fail in the mantis test video, I'm a little hesitant to introduce another one to my system. It's extremely unpleasant to imagine a failure.
That's the last thing that will fail. You'd have to have a huge factor fall in order to create anywhere near the kn force required to break a biner when used correctly. I mean HUGE. You wouldn't believe the number of 15-20ft whippers I've taken on them. I've retired biners for age and used them to pull cars and tractors and lumber for years to come. Only thing I've ever had happen is gate springs start to go. My only suggestion is buy good, name brand biners from reputable dealers, i.e. not amazon.
