Webbing foot loop climbing method

Yes that would be very lite and compact

I wanted to make it out of Amsteel but I’m not real good with that process yet.
Thinking you could even do a single strand with a brummel lock in both ends instead of a continuous loop. Just make the brummels on either end wide enough for the toe of your boot to easily fit. Then it wouldn't matter which end got girth hitched to the tree.

I made a couple dog bones but never tried more than one or two steps high on a tree. My thought was to use a KN/S to get around standing on the 7/64 amsteel. I was thinking of tying a length of placard or bungee and attached to the girth hitched loop used around the tree, that was tied or clipped to my saddle, so as you step up you can un hitch the one below you to use again. You could use 2 or 3 and climb as high as you wanted. I think I might have mentioned this in one of the stepp threads as an attempt to not have to carry the steps in. But then found bolts and have been using those. Although I don't preset trees so next year I'm trying T2C and may have to try this out completely.

I didn't think the continous loops made much sense unless you organize well. Mine always ended in a balled up tangle.

Could you do a Amsteel

We need someone to make a Amsteel version to test out.
That would pack very well and you could place part of a zip tie inside the Amsteel to help hold the foot loop open.

Well I went out today and did more testing and I’ll be honest I’m not a fan.
It’s super simple to girth hitch and fast but I’m not big on aiders and this feels very similar.
Yesterday With trying one out I thought it had potential but today with the complete setup moving up the tree it didn’t feel efficient.
It doesn’t weigh much and is silent but it’s just not what I was hoping for but possibly a younger more flexible person may like it.
Oh well I’m out a little time and webbing no big deal.

It was a good idea and worth experimenting with. Thanks!

Did you put your toe to the tree, and have it directly in front of you(6oclock) on tree?

If so, try again putting the one for your right foot at 4oclock or so, left foot at 8oclock. Put the inside of your boot against the tree.

This should solve the stability issue.

You’re on your own for climbing down, removing them, etc.

dangerous knowledge......the splice only rule for amsteel isn't really needed for non-life support if you are smart about your knots and don't put a lot of force on it....standing is not a lot of force

a figure 8 bend with a double overhand stopper knot on the tag ends of that bend will never pull out in a million years under your body weight and is likely stronger than a double brummel lock

I placed them at 4 and 8 o’clock with the inside of my foot to the tree.
I messed with it again today and it may work for others but I decided today it’s just not for me at this point.
Maybe you younger guy’s can make something of it because I can’t say I feel unsafe it just doesn’t feel efficient for me and my ability.
