My feet are what drives me from my hunting stand. This year I realized my feet sweat and get cold. So I think it was Alleghainy Tom that suggested changing my socks once I get to my hunting spot and use Alpaca socks. So I picked up some $25 Bass Pro 1/2 rubber boots, Alpaca socks and some foot warmers . The rubber boot is very easy to slip off and on, haven't tried them out yet but soon and I guess I'll use BPS rubbed boot with Alpaca and foot warmers when it starts snowing.:tongueout: I love the snow!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really!

If you're going to change your socks once at the tree, I suggest you put a plastic bag over each sock before putting on your boots. Then when you change your socks at the tree, you put the damp socks in one of the bags and then you have dry boots and dry socks once you've changed them. I did that back in the 80's and still do on extremely long walks in during cold weather.

If you just change your damp socks, your boots will also be damp inside and your feet will get cold quicker.

So you put on your socks, then a plastic bag over the socks, and then in your boots?

Then to change socks, take off socks while in plastic bag, put one bag in the other, and dry socks into dry boots?

Am I reading that right?

So I think the system I'm going to try is a thin sock that wicks sweat away and uninsullated rubber boots (most likely some Tingley's) for early season.

For late season, same sock with a heavy wool sock as well and some insulated rubber boots. When on the stand put on articshield boot insulators and a chemical warmer.
