What did you do today?

I went and shot the Mathews VXR on Friday. There's a reason my backup bow is now listed for sale.

Built a couple target backers out of a horse stall mat. Works great for stopping heavy arrows but it’s a pain to pull them out and doesn’t give you a true read on impact angle. I’ll use them as a backstop for block and 3D targets.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. That backstop should last a while and you have your investment back after 5 or so misses.

It was less than $60 for two of those, ~$40 for a 4’x6’ mat from Tractor Supply (cut in half) and about $20 worth of pressure treated 2x4, deck screws and big flat washers.

27 posts and not one has mentioned shed hunting? Am I the only one who is doing it?
Its combined with PRE season scouting...I reject the phrase "post" season scouting. ALL scouting is prep for the next hunt, so calling it post season scouting is not exactly accurate. I'm scouting now for NEXT season.
You guys that aren't beating the brush now are missing the boat.

I walk in the woods daily looking for sheds. I have yet to find a fresh shed this year. So weird!

Hunting truck maintenance: installed new lift pump and lines, new rear brakes and rear brake lines, brake fluid flush. Ready for another season.
Whatcha got, I need a little hunting truck. I got stuck in the civic too many times last year.

3/4 of the ground I hunt is underwater and has been for about the last 3 months or so.

Unfortunately the ground in the woods here is still under the cover of snow. Since the deer relocate out of my normal hunting spots for the winter there's nothing to scout yet. Once the snow melts and before green up the sign from last year is really evident. That's my best pre-season scouting time . . . unfortunately I'm still a couple of weeks away from that.

I did do some shed hunting in the swamps but haven't had any luck yet. It's possible the sheds are still buried.

94 F250 7.3L. Not pretty but runs great and reliable. May have to get an extended cab soon, kids are showing interest.
That’s an awesome truck. I’ve been looking for a single cab f250.
