Used to just do coffee but I feel like calorie burn is way more ridiculous when hunting than we believe, particularly if you have to set a tree up or trek in. And mentally exhausting too. I just like to start the day with some calories for my BRAIN more than anything. Help my coordination in the tree, keep my bow mechanics steadier, not be thinking about my stomach 30m into the hunt… moral support in that regard too, I suppose.

how bad does this stuff taste? are there different flavors? I'm sure things have come a long way, but I used some stuff when I was in high school recommended by a friend that was hard to choke down. sure, it cleared up my acne, but even holding my nose it would make me gag it was so bad. tasted like burnt seaweed.

I just mix it with enough water to suspend it and chug it. I haven’t considered the taste. That’s usually 6-8 ounces of water. Then I drink another 6-8 to wash it down. My parents also drink it, and I hear them complain about the taste, but they’re like children in that regard. So I’m mot sure what to tell ya. I wouldn’t drink it as a dessert

I’m nothing for breakfast and take a few things in. I don’t normally eat breakfast anyway and drink close to a pot of coffee a day from 7-noon. Hunting I don’t need or want the coffee. I’ve packed a Jocko energy drink 3-4 times and never drank it so now I just put water to drink and protein bars, deer sticks or salami and cheese, occasional sammich, occasional candy. I usually pack more food than I use. I’m more focused if I’m not thinking about how hard I’m gonna hit Arbys on the way home, some people seem to do better as a hungry dogs a mad dog. To each their own, hunt happy.

I don't eat anything. I'm not usually hungry that early anyway. If it's warm I'll pack water or some gatorade. Otherwise I'll just eat after the hunt. If it's an all day hunt I'll pack food and start snacking mid morning through early afternoon.
This is pretty much what I do as well. I have to have a little coffee though and I bring a Nalgene of water on every hunt.
