Man I've killed a bunch with a variety of weapons. Most of them have come from a Remington 870 shot gun due to the restrictions in mn. In Wisconsin, my new favorite is a tikka ultralite 270. I've been thinking of getting a .243. No need for a big gun at the distances I can actually see.

I've been dabbling with pistol hunting which I think is ideal for the saddle, but as of now have yet to get a shot with it.

When I was in college, open land forever... it was a shotgun only county so I have my Remington 870 express that has taken quite a few deer. Then back home where there are houses everywhere it’s a rifle legal county so I have a Marlin 30-30 level action that I hunt with. Much shorter, lighter and more accurate.
I mainly use my bow but have been revisiting the guns the last few years.

A friend of mines dad use to be big into pistol hunting, he had a collection of tc contenders in different calibers his go to was one chambered in .35 Remington I always thought that would be cool to try out.

Sako Deluxe .270. Old man bought it for me as a young man. Great gun but it's a little too pretty for the style of hunting I do.

Winchester 94 in .32 Special. Inherited from my pap. Been (sorta) trying for 3 years to shoot a deer with this gun but no dice yet.

I want to get a snyth gun I can not be afraid to beat up but I don't gun hunt much so it's sat pretty low on my priority list for quite awhile.

Remington Model 788 chambered in .308. Taken elk, muley, whitetail and antelope with it.

"Beware the man with one gun - he knows how to use it? "

Don't know who said it but seems like the truth.

I had a 788 in 308. that thing was a no frills TACK DRIVER!!!!! the mag rattled like hell though, ended up cutting a piece of bike inner tube the right size and inserted the mag in it and that worked pretty well...

You said it all right there. Off a bench at 200 yards with my reloads I can fire 3/4 inch groups. With that kind of performance...the bolt can rattle.

I've been having some shoulder trouble to the point a couple rounds of trap will leave my right hand numb for two days. I decided to get a rifle this year with low recoil. I really wanted a .260 Rem, but settled on a 7mm-08 Montana X2. It's a little heavier than I prefer to carry, but the weight helps with recoil. I load it light so felt recoil is minimal and the thing is a real tackdriver. The only mod I would consider is shortening the 24" barrel to 20" or 21".

My go to is a M96 Mauser 6.5x55 Swede with 3x9 Redfield on it. I made a new bolt handle for it and bedded it in a Boyd’s prairie hunter. For a 102 year old gun it is a shooter with proper hand loads. My dad got it for me at a flea market when I was 9. I have several others but the soft recoil and accuracy along with the sentimental value keeps the Swede on top.CB346436-6E4D-45C1-8D95-1C5D3B316A30.jpeg

Tikka t3 lite stainless in the Almighty 30-06.

I hunted with a .243 and loved it until I hated it. 3 out of 4 deer and the one pig I've subjugated with the 06 this year have all been dead-in-tracks. The one "runner" made it 30 yards.

.243 kills, but 30-06 kills much more gooder.
I think you done went to the same school as me.

I have a Tikka T3 lite in .243. Can't hunt deer with a rifle here. So this is my coyote gun plus if I get a chance to hunt deer or pronghorn gun.
I have Weatherby PA 0-8 12ga with 28 inch and 24 inch rifled barrel. This is my turkey/waterfowl gun. I can use it for the shotgun deer season here but have not shot a deer with it. Love it its reliable and was cheap. Its also a virtual knock off of the .870 if I recall. I haven't used one for a long time.
Also have a .22 lever action for fun and maybe bunny or squirrel some day.

I have been looking for a large calibre gun but cant decide. 7mm .300 win . 30-06. 308. Too many choices. It would be my any game bigger than deer gun.

Picked up a browning xbolt hells canyon this year in 6.5 creedmoor. Alittle pricey but really light weight and considering I've been using the same abolt 270 for 25yrs i decided to buy me a new rifle on my 40th bday. So far 2 knocked down with it. One passed through the other destoryed the insides.
