Who is ready - RUT 2019

Like I said, luck. I'd rather figure a buck's daily routine out than rely on him making a mistake and blundering past me.

That being said, I kill bucks every year during the rut. Usually ones that weren't on my hit list. It's fun to meet new faces.

Why is it that you think everyone that kills a buck during the rut is luck? Some of us do it on purpose with identified target animals first time in - don't think that is luck?

Vacation starts in less than 2 hours, 3 weeks to get it done!

Same. The rut throws patterns off. If you really know what you're doing, early season is the best time to ambush a target buck. There's a lot of luck involved in rut hunts.
Not sure about luck being needed but it definitely changes any pattern they may have had. Rut hunting is about knowing travel lanes bucks use to check doe bedding areas.

Lol, chill! Not trying to start a fight. Lol.

me neither - I just hear that a lot on other sites, that somehow rut hunting is luck (usually the ones that say this live in premium ag country with many good bucks running around). I personally find it much more difficult to stay on and catch up with a target buck during the rut?

Rut hunting is a tactic just like patterning an early or late season buck is a tactic each have their place and time, luck and skill plays a part in both. The fact is most of us have to schedule days off from work or family duties in order to hunt for consecutive days. I'm not going to do that when its hot as blazes in the early season when my target buck is only on his feet for a brief window in shooting light, or in late season after the orange army has had their way with them. I'll hunt him on the weekends during those times when the conditions are correct. Targeting and killing only mature bucks is a tough game and not for everyone and my hats off to anyone who gets done on a regular basis no mater where in the country or time of year.

I’m off from Nov 9-17th but I have to spend 4-8 November in Teterborro NJ for my new position at work! I guess my wife will have to do the killing

First hunt of year will be tomorrow after work than one more week of work and off 6-17 best of luck to all

I'm retired so can hunt almost anytime...Bucks have been chasing like crazy for the last week here in Piedmont NC. Took a buddy bowhunting last week and he saw a big boy running off the little bucks that were harassing the does but he couldn't get a shot. I've been hunting that buck hard since then and finally got him this evening with the rifle. Unfortunately not using a saddle this evening but here's a pic anyway:

Only one more buck tag so I will have to be picky as the best times are yet to come....

It might be overrated on Facebook but I have 10 bucks on my wall over 125” that were all killed from November 3-28. All with a bow except for 3 and the two biggest with a bow was shot from the ground.

I will have to look at this more closely before I am willing to change my hunting strategy. Until I can verify this fact via social media, I am not prepared to accept your view that the rut is a good time to hunt.

Congrats on a good one! I lived in NC for a while and really enjoyed it. Bow hunted it exclusively though but never had trouble finding something to shoot at.

I’ll be in a tree as much as I can between now and the end of the season. Seems like it’s stating here in SW PA.
