Thought I'd drop this here in honor of 2000 responses. Pretty much all you need to get up a tree is what Kyle is wearing here... plus a bit of booty shaking.

Some things you can’t unsee.I’ll say it though, I’m getting sidetracked! The plan for this season is to learn SRT. BUT I don’t see how I can pass this up, without trying. And yes, I have everything already. I have been watching the playlist and it’s sort of confusing how many different “styles” folks are using. This leg loop system seems to be the best, but I don’t have a leg loop……..I wanna play this game though!

Seriously though, I haven't tried 2TC yet but picked up a used CGM kit late season and didn't want to mess around with it during the season. The kit has both the thigh loop and foot loop but in perusing the available threads and videos, I see an apparent lack of enthusiasm for the thigh loop. Should I both with it? Or maybe even use my garda foot loop on the top tether?

bfriendly, I do enjoy SRT and once you get it figured out it's pretty quick and efficient. You just need to have the rope set or it becomes troublesome. I've only done the the canopy hitch method but I'm working out how to do a base hitch so I don't have to re-thread the rope back through the branches with a throwball. The only ropes I have that are long enough are predator and a twin rope for JRB, so my current thought experiment is how to SRT on predator (outside of my Madrock's specs).

Never needed a thigh loop.foot loops are optional for comfort mostly .but for me the foot loop is part of my technique. It has elastic on it to keep my foot in it.and adds comfort

ok serious question. Your picture of your setup in the other thread '2tc or die' look like THREE tethers, what the heck is going on there?

I don’t have the intestinal fortitude to go through 101 pages. Anyone use a soft platform/stirrups to 2 tc up the tree with?

I am thinking stand in the stirrups slide saddle tether up sit in saddle slide stirrup tether up rinse and repeat to desired height.

I believe that some people have done that with 2 of the CGM footloops or created one by trying a double alpine butterfly in a length of 1"webbing.

I was looking at this:

Yes this is actually a really good idea as long as you only lock in 1 foot with an elastic. Its nice to be able to take your foot out and wrap yr leg around the tree at some points but should you have a shot opportunity, the 2 footloop makes all the difference in the world for a stable shot! I learned the hard way.
However I currently have a separate footloop on each tether+/rappel rope.

On a different thread I was explaining to someone about 2TC and made a breakdown of the 4 different 2TC systems currently being used and the components of each. I can put them here since this is the official 2TC thread...

1st 2TC style: ULTRALIGHT-
Minimum equipment:
2 short (10/11ft) rope or tethers, 1 with a footloop and the other with a bridge attachment hitch/device.
You simply 2TC up then 2TC down. You hunt from your main tether.
This is the same minimum rope requirement for any other system ie: LB and tether.

Popular add ons: a classic LB or amsteel daisy chain for branch passing.

2nd 2TC style (Versatile):
Minimum equipment:
2 ropes again. 1 short tether with hitch/device and footloop. 1 rappel length rope with bridge attachment hitch/device. This is also your 2nd tether.

You 2TC up and/or rappel down. You could also SRT up if you had a preset.

- Options for comfort include a thighloop or second footloop on your rappel tether. Or a double footloop on your foot tether.
- Options for safety include a second bridge attachment on your short/foot tether.
- Options for going around branches include a 3rd rope/LB. OR simply use the second bridge attachment on your short/foot tether in and adjustable way to keep you tight to the tree while moving your rappel tether around the branch.

Again this is the same minimum requirement for most other rope climbing methods that also rappel down including 1 sticking.
