Why don't yall 2TC?

I don’t have the intestinal fortitude to go through 101 pages. Anyone use a soft platform/stirrups to 2 tc up the tree with?

I am thinking stand in the stirrups slide saddle tether up sit in saddle slide stirrup tether up rinse and repeat to desired height.

Used to call it stirrup climb. I had made one just using webbing. If you search for stirrup climb, I think it was justsomedude that I got my info from. Worked okay for me but I can’t hardly stay still in a saddle as it is let alone on a soft platform. Looks like there are better options for stirrups that you can buy nowadays but if you just wanted to try it the webbing was cheap and easy. Haven’t made it through the thread yet but the consensus seems to be it’s easier to climb with one foot loop than two.

What is the ideal 2TC setup after all these pages. I might try it. Which setup will likely cause me to leave one sticking

3rd common 2TC method: (Yet more versatile)
Minimum equipment used -2 ropes and a Garda hitch footloop or foot ascender/s of your choice.
1st rope: 1 short tether or lineman's belt with footloop attachment, single or double footloop, and second bridge attachment for safety/ going around branches.
2nd rope: 1 extra long rope setup for either JRB/Ddrt (which could simply be SRT as well).
The JRB rope also needs a second hitch and the above mentioned foot ascenders or Garda hitch footloop, but these can be at the other end of the rope and out of the way of 2TC.

This is equal to an SRT/Ddrt setup.
Options again include a LB or daisy chain.

4th and probably slightly less common (Simply Complex):
1 JRB/Ddrt length rope with an eye on each end(tied or spliced) and the Garda hitch footloop or other foot ascender.
1 end is the foot tether and has a simple hitch for a footloop (this is between and in the opposite cinching direction of the first ascender hitch)
The other end is the same but for your bridge attachment.
You can 2TC with the 2 ends and then at the top or when at a branch you can do a JRB rappel down (which also happens to be the simplest way to retrieve your rappel rope).

The beauty of this is if you have a preset paracord...you can just JRB/Ddrt/Srt with the ascender hitch/es and the Garda footloop/foot ascender.

You can also have a 5th hitch (the other 4 are: 2 facing towards the center for JRB and 2 facing the ends for your 2TC) your 2nd bridge attachment point and branch passing safety system.
Options- sameas the others: bring a LB for extra security/emergency.

Tether - which you already have

Linesman - probably have already - turn into your foot tether

Foot loop - I used the Hunter Safety System foot loop/deer drag as my foot loop. This came with all my HSS harnesses. Shortened it up all the way and also tied an overhand knot in it to shorten it up even more. A short foot loop is best (from my experience). Put that on a hitch with a biner and climb up a tree

It really is that simple. The first climb will be "no way am I doing this". Second climb will be around the same mindset. Once you hit a few more climbs and start figuring out the little things its like butter. For me, the biggest 'ahhh ha!' moment was when I realized I don't have to move my hitch cords. This made it faster and easier. Of course every once in a while it needs moved but if you can figure out where they need to be for each climb it makes it smooooth!

Anyone on here have experience 2TC with a JX3? I just got a JX3 and 4 Gen 3 Tethrd Ones and a GC-Single aider from BWMG in the off-season. I hunted almost exclusively last year one sticking with a TL Wingman and Latitude Classic 2. Rappelled down and worked out well for me in most situations. Been reading the 2TC thread off and on along the way but wasn’t sure if it was something I’d be interested in. But here to say now I’m genuinely intrigued and think I’m at least gonna give it a go this spring/summer. Just curious if it’s gonna work with the JX3 or if it’s something I’ll only be able to use with soft saddle. Any replies and responses greatly appreciated. Great thread on the best forum out there!

Have plenty of tethers and lineman’s for sure. You got a picture of that footloop setup? And is the thigh loop unnecessary? Does it help or hinder? I don’t see much mention of it anymore.

I'll let you know once this wind dies down. I just bought a used JX3 and my plan is to 2TC with it. I'll get back with you as soon as I do so. I feel that with my experience with 2TC in a full season should give me a good idea how easy/hard it will be with the JX3

Don't know, never used one. All I read is it offers more stability? Again, not sure don't use one. Yeah hit me up with a PM and I'll text you a few photos.

I have tried it, and it works but you need a thin extra saddle as you can't 2TC or any other rope method with the seat deployed. So if you get a coast ghost (@tailgunner), Dryad, or other similar thin saddle, and wear it under the straps it works great.
I climbed with it but never hunted from it as I felt I didn't have enough practice during last season.

I'm interested to hear of your experience in one as well!

Well add me to the list of guys that gave in to the rhetoric and gave it a shot.
I was so frustrated after 20 minutes that I was ready to unhook, jump down the 8’ I had made it and walk home.
You made it 5 feet higher than I did my first time. Give it a few days and revisit it. It took me several attempts to see that it had potential.
