I wanted to share the modification I worked on this summer to add a versa button to my wild edge stepps. I have used it through the summer and so far this deer season without any problems.

What makes it work well is the daisy chain attached to the bar on one side with a whoopie. With the whoopie, you can fine tune the tightness of the amsteel.

The location and size of the button keeps the compact stacking feature that I liked so much.

I'm using one of those amsteel "whoopsie daisies" on my single stick as well. Seems to work really well.

I like this idea a lot. I may have to look into getting more Amsteel and giving this a try.

Did you have any issues welding to the step? What did you use for the button?

Thanks guys, welding it wasn’t an issue at all. I made a small button by welding a washer to a 1/4” grade 8 bolt. After that, I just smoothed off the top with a grinder.

To weld it to the step, I drilled a hole through the step first so I could weld it on the top and bottom. I felt like that would add some strength and rely less on my questionable welding skills.

I am using them now.

I just finished a week long hunt in Missouri without a problem. They are holding great. I haven’t had a step slip since I started using this design.

How many stepps do you think you've tied on so far?

Very interesting.

I am using 4 stepps with knaider swaider, so I probably used this method for 56 stepps last week. I would guess maybe 20 or so prior to the hunt. In all, I have used this method on around 75 stepps.

I did similar awhile back but instead of welding I just ran a bolt, washer and nylon spacer and nut on back side. Been using all season without a problem

What length are your whoopsie daisies? And are you attaching the loop over the stud from the underneath side of the cross bar? Any chance you could post a short video showing pop-up and cam over?

As an end of season update, they worked great all season with no modifications or repairs needed.

I didn’t notice this question. I made my daisy about the length of typical strap.. 6 ft or so. Yes, I am attaching it to the stud from the under the cross bar. I will try to make a short video soon.
