Smart cookie. No, opening day in Louisiana area 1 is Tuesday October 1st. I will not be in a tree until Friday October 4th. It’s in my best interest not to burn daddy duty or my jobs vacation days until it cools off or the rut starts.
Call it a season?! Lol call it a MEAL, maybe. But that’s also because I have gone 3 seasons only hunting a week or less each. I’m itching for the woods.Absolutely not. I do not hunt unless the daytime temps are below 70 and that will be a month off from our opener. All about quality of hunt versus quantity. My ideal season would be to setup on a buck bed the very first evening in the woods, shoot him, and call it a season.
I get you and I was gung ho for many moons too. As I have seasoned with age, I wont compromise on being both comfortable and productive, and honestly was not in early seasons all those years. I would have earned far more wife and family points back then had I hunted less days, but the right days. I also only hunt a spot 2 or 3x on my private land all season, and there are not that many spots. On public, only 1x per spot, so not many there either.Call it a season?! Lol call it a MEAL, maybe. But that’s also because I have gone 3 seasons only hunting a week or less each. I’m itching for the woods.
