Back on track.... smart choice, I wouldn’t have attempted that shot. Hopefully he will give you another opportunity
 
Got me pondering

Wondering if sacrificing an arrow by shooting a tree behind him would have made him jump up and move in your direction? He is facing your position. May have worked out perfectly due to them normally running 40-50yds then turning to see what made the noise. Of course he may see you drawing, hear the arrow zipping overhead or bow firing which would throw that theory out the window.

Hind sight is always 20/20.

I like this idea! That’s something I might’ve done! Thinking outside of the box is always helpful in a unique situation. I always carry one field tip (junk) arrow with me.
