That's cool! 3 steps is enough for me. I'm just using them to pair with my 1 stick. Might order some this week then.
 
I finally got the Xop steps and put them on a tree in my yard this weekend. My first impressions was that they look very well made and feel solid. The ratchet strap that comes with it is really heavy duty and really heavy. I won't be using it. Once I put them on the tree with my EWO OCB strap it felt like they had a little bit of side to side roll movement. Probably due to fact that I just can't get the OCB tight enough like you could with their ratchet strap. I was was able to put side pressure on them without them feeling too unstable. If I was just going to use an ROS they would probably not be my first choice. My TreeHopper steps definitely feel a lot more stable with nearly 0 movement. However I am just pairing them with my 1 stick and they should work just fine for that application. They are lite and fold down nicely making perfect for throwing them in my dump pouch.
 
That looks to me like a rivet, which is thin walled- hollow and unhardened - all fine if it’s sole purpose
Is as a pivot for folding up and a bit sketchy if it’s under any force.
 
Ok, so I'm gonna bet that its a hi-lok screw. You can see the start of the threads and the hex is on the inside of the threaded end.
Itd be an odd choice of fastener as the head is clearly universal.
However, there's a slight chance it's a rivet, which would be 'work-hardened' by punching or squeezing it. And rivets are supposed to be strong in shear, which is whats needed in this scenario.
I'm still gonna say it's a hi-lok though.

Funny you say that because when I looked at it I thought that it looked like it had a hex screw down in there. I however didn't confirm it by trying to look down in there with a light for a better view. I will try to confirm that later today when I get home.

I think that for my purposes it's OK. Probably ony use 2 steps to allow me easier shots behind my tree. I figure at this point most of my weight is in my saddle anyways.
 
How long was the strap that came with them? You could also use a lighter duty ratchet strap to
cut weight. Even the lightweight ratchet straps have a 500lb WLL witch is still a 150 plus pounds more
than the EWO OCB.

I believe it a 6 ft strap. Honestly I never planned on using it. I'll see how the ocb works for me during the early part of the season, before I decide if I need to change it for a lighter weight ratchet.
