XOP platform UCR slipping?

I just got my XOP platform put together using Ernie's kit. I went out back to give it a try and I can't get the UCR to hold tight. It loosens itself anytime I apply any side load at all. Is there a trick to it? When I cam the seat over the platform feels super solid till I apply any side load especially on the fixed loop side of the platform.

This is exactly why I pulled the UCR apart and just use the fixed loop on one side and Jim stepp on the other. Released twice on me with side pressure. Too risky for me so I switched it over. Stepp knot is simple

It is simply too much risk - you could lose your whole season, send it to me immediately and I will dispose of it properly.

X2. I'm not using a platform but when I was fooling with it I found the same and switched to a stepp knot.

Tomorrow I will try the stepp knot. If I can't get that to work I'll go to a lone wolf strap.

I think the lone wolf is the easiest of the bunch to adjust. Stepping knot is easy to tie but you futz alot if you don't have the proper tension.

stepp knot is what I use, but dang if I havent found myself up a tree, fumbling trying to remember how to tie it. lol Embarrassing since its so simple.

I tried the UCR, Stepp knot and Lone Wolf strap. Of the three I found that the LW strap was the easiest to connect and adjust.

I actually added a Versa button just below the seat, I use a lone wolf strap to get the platform onto the tree. Then use the Amsteel w step knot to cam it over. Then adjust the LW strap to be as tight as I can get it. But not worrying about keeping the platform in place while I mess w Amsteel makes my life easier

Has anybody tried using just a versa button and LW strap on the post to mount the platform with nothing attached to the seat? Basically mounting just like a LW treestand. I’m trying to understand why it wouldn’t work? Is it because you cannot cam lock it tight enough to the tree?

I was thinking about putting the Versa button above the platform but my bolt was too short to go through the cleat and Versa. But I don't think that I could get it tight enough to not slip w side pressure. Nothing beats the cam IMO

Yup. So I took a pic of it. Now if I forget, I just look at the pic on my phone as a reference. That simple lil knot can be so frustrating if you are out of practice. Lol

Anyone know the weight difference in a lone wolf strap vs a hawk helium buckle? I have three helium buckles I removed from my sticks and they are pretty heavy

Probably not much. They are similar size.

Except the Helium uses a metal fastener and clip in addition to the ratchet to tighten the strap. Where the LW only has the ratchet. But I am sure its really close.
