Anyone running this setup? I'm having a heck of a time with my XOP platform and the whoopie sling. It does cam over nice and tight but that's after what seems like a lot of adjustment trying to get the length just perfect. I'm fearful i'll take this setup out in the woods and will end up fighting with the whoopie sling much longer than i'd prefer.

I'm thinking a versa button twith a cam buckle is maybe easier? Just not sure if It would lock down as tight as the whoopie sling (or if it even needs to).

If you run this setup please share pics / thoughts / experience.

I have an Ernie's XOP platform kit and the XOP seat, using the XOP batwing brackets.

will work fine if you only stand straight up. Any side loading will unload the strap and you'll get movement. The reason the whoopee or jim stepp knot on amsteel works is that it cams the upright so dang tight to the tree.

Wonder if I could add the versa button and cam buckle and still keep the whoopie sling? The hardest part is adjusting the length of the whoopie sling. It would be nice just to quickly attach the platform to hold it in place while I monkey with the whoopie sling so I can cam it over.

For that I suppose even a basic quick release buckle might work.... hmm

Im using Ernies platform with the stepp knot it works great I and can apply decent side pressure without any give in the platform. I did have the same adjusting issue with the original rope set up

I have a versa button and a strap to hold it in place then I do a step knot too. I find I am quieter and it is easier to attach

It is not necessary but I find it works for me

The Stepp knot worked a lot better for me. If you don't get it right the first time it's easy to loosen up and make minor adjustments. I'd recommend at least trying the Stepp knot with the amsteel before resorting to the versa button.

This is exactly what I did. I put a Versa button 1/2 way down tube, I use the LW strap to get it on the tree, then use stepp knot to cam it over. Makes it easier to adjust the knot.

Anyone have a video or illustration of how to tie the stepp knot?

I remember @g2outdoors experimenting with using a lone wolf strap in place of the woopie sling at pigmageddon last year and it worked well. I just don't remember exactly how we hooked it up and haven't heard him comment on it any more since.

There was too much fiddle factor with my whoopie sling and Ernie's UCR. I switched to a LoneWolf strap and it works well.

I'll post a video soon

I agree that it works better with the stepp knot than the whoopie sling. I think you could also just hook up a long wolf strap similar to how you hook up to do this and then cam it over. I think that is what @g2outdoors and @EricS are referring to.

Red I'm pretty sure that's what he did. Looking at bchunters post on the amsteel daisy makes me wonder if you could make on with about one inch loops and just give an extra wrap for incremental adjustments.

Here's a quick and dirty video of how I attach my platform. I love how lightweight Amsteel is, but there's just too much fiddle factor when I'm 25' up. The LW strap makes it fast and easy.

I like it
