What quality of thread do you suppose the Chinese used when stitching that together?
A fall from 20' might make a good used saddle look pretty cheap...

Stitching? Last one I bought was melted together no stitching period.

Never mind I went back and looked at his pictures

That’s a big negative from me. I wouldn’t trust my life to it.

I strongly recommend using a rock climbing harness as a backup for anything that wasn't designed to be hung from a tree on.

I think it's pretty cool, using an RC harness I'd trust it. Heck Sitdrag isn't rated for being 20' up either but with a RC harness no one cares lol. Just be safe and hunt like a dog

Love the ingenuity and looking outside the box. Imo we need more of this. The manufactured products we use are great and top notch but the next great evolutions in this style of hunting will come from the new guys taking fresh looks at what the rest of us see as same old and done that. I say bravo and agree that this is no less dangerous then the piece of fancy plywood I hunt on or a piece of fleece or a modified sit drag. One thing all of those have in common however is that we use rated harnesses and climbing gear to back them up so we don’t become statistics. You can buy a rock harness for cheap. Buy it. Put it on. And then you can experiment until you find the next great saddle idea. Well done sir. Be safe.

Thank you! I appreciate your feed back. I agree, I know this style has been around for a while but its exploding now and it's only going to get bigger. I would buy a real saddle but I just dont see me spending over $200 for some fabric.

When I first was drawn to a saddle a couple years ago one of the biggest draws for me was the opportunity to save money. The benefits of one stand for any tree and the ability to make most of what I needed myself added up to big savings in my head. Today I have two very comfortable saddles that I made myself and neither costs more then $30 to make. I have 4 climbing options on which I use two but both of those cost me under $40 as well. My platform is a piece of plywood paired with a primal step that was under $20 and I could replace it with $0 and a half hour work if it ever broke. Add ropes, carabiners and buying a few things that didn’t work out and I’m into everything for under what a nice light climber stand would cost you. This method can save money. The manufactured stuff is nice and I’ve been tempted to jump. Into one but for now I’m good.

I think that is really creative. I would hunt out of that IF I paired it with my rock climbing harness. That looks like it would be quite comfortable. Nice work. Be safe!

No sense in me beating a dead horse about a rock climbing harness. I’m sure you got the point.
This site never fails to amaze me with the diy ideas. Love it! Something you may want to experiment with is making the section with the buckle longer so that when weighted, the 2 side loops don’t meet close to center. That creates a squeeze. I’d probably do away with the center buckle and let the ends open up and attach to a bridge for more comfort. Add a waist belt just to hold the harness up on your waist when you have no weight in it. Basically make it like the sitdrag mods.
