Your preferred resting place

I want left on a bark scaffold on top of the mountain I was raised on. Let my grandmothers Cherokee input take my spirit and the buzzards can have the rest. They can’t eat me and crap on everyone that crapped on me. lol

For anyone interested in going down a somewhat macabre rabbit hole, Caitlin Doughty's YouTube channel, Ask a Mortician https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCi5iiEyLwSLvlqnMi02u5gQ has a lot of info on death and funeral planning, shopping for death care, green burial options, the laws surrounding disposition of human remains, and a lot of other stuff. I've spent hours on there and learned a lot I never expected to.

Graveyards are totally unsustainable. We should just face the facts and stop the practice.

As most can see, anyone reading this post has a lot of views and options for their last day. The ones not born yet could be zapped only but that is if we all don't get nuked first.

I’m watching the Baltic fleet. If they head for the Atlantic it’s a high probability indication they intend to strike the east coast.

Me? I want to be cremated and ashes placed in some kind of trinket to my kids and wife (if she wants one) lol
Then the rest i want to be spread all over a deer filled state forest in Delaware and New Jersey. Probably Redden and bellplain forests where ive hunted my whole life
Gotta be somewhere never be built on or developed

I'm see that more than 80% are saying cremations with some form of ashes scattering. This is actually really interesting since the last few funerals l am aware of personally were all ground burials. Is this because of the hunting community who seem to want to reconnect with nature in general.

It is probably more likely to saddle hunters blowing all their funds on annual bow upgrades, 1000s of saddles, ropes, platforms, sticks, and other gear to make them better hunters and kill more deer that didn't work as advertised and sold them all in the classifieds at discount and loss. Only half joking...

Could be, or it could be that old people generally die before young ones and most of us aren't dead yet. Cremation is a pretty novel idea right now. We've got a long history of excess land and church graveyards. I'm sure as more of the hippies and their descendants start croaking, cremation rates will go up.

Or we'll all realize we crave some comfortable tradition at death's door once we're actually there and insist on a plot next to granny at the ole First United Evangelical House of the New Kingdom of the Holy Spirit. I'll be the first to acknowledge it's usually a peaceful place.

I told my wife to dispose of my body the cheapest way possible. I would rather her spend our hard earned life's savings on the kids, herself or even her new boy toy. Anything is better than giving a boat load of money to a funeral director who is doing nothing more than lining his own pockets by preying on the grieving family.
I was also kind enough to let her know I'm planning to dig a hole in the yard and drop her in when her time comes...

Clicked in this thread thinking it was gonna be about sitting vs Leaning... boy was I wrong!!! Haha natural burial all the way for me I’m no hippie tree hugger by any means but I do believe our bodies should compost and give back to the earth that they took from for so many years

Wow.....that's actually more accurate then I want to admit. I'm pretty sure I'm not as 'dedicated' financially as some other in regards to hunting supplies. But l could probably buy a decent resting place by my time to go if I didn't went down this rabbit hole.

BUT I would like to say that the money I sent on video games in my 20s before this hunting bug got me was just as much or even more so. So.....there?

Whatever is cheaper for my wife. No need to spend 5-10k for grave site, another 1-5k on a gasket and whatever a funeral service costs. Burn me up, have a party at the house. If she chooses to throw my ashes in the woods Awesome if not oh well I wont know the difference.

Donate my organs and whatever is still viable. I’d rather be cremated, but my wife says otherwise. I’m cheap and not super religious. I’ve also thought about donating it for medical training.
