Your Sewing projects?

WE Step bag mod. I have used it a couple of times now. So far I really like it. Almost ready to tak my pull string of the zipper and totally commit to it :)

MY DIY sitdrag. It is an inch or so wider than the commercial version and I added webbing stringers to firm it up. The stringers do a nice job of eliminating any canvas sag, which I think may be one of the leg pinching (and possibly hip pinch) discomforts we read about by some saddle users.

Here is my new knaider and swaider. They sit next to the original versions I made last year. New ones are sewn and not adjustable. I found I never adjusted them during the hinting season.

And lastly (for now) my harness mod. Sewed on new linemans belt loop. One side has an extra large loop so it is easier to hookin and out when I have a bunch of clothes on. Also places the ropeman more forward, making it easier to handle. I have used a few times now and I really like it.

I wanted a chest rig for turkey hunting cause I hate turkey vest. I'm working on a different back for it as well which I hope to finish this week.

That's awesome? Just bought a hs strut undertaker turkey chest pack for the exact same reason! Looks much less bulky than what I bought.

I've done a bunch of stuff, but here is two of the bigger projects. 22" and 26" packs. Both have a kifaru style framesheet with an HPG style yoke. The smaller bag is styled after a kifaru tahr with a center zip added. This was my first attempt and is mostly just my airline carry on now. I'm too tall for a 22" frame to provide any lift off my shoulders.

The bigger bag mimics the Kifaru reckoning. Hauled a cow elk about 4 miles out with no problems. I use this as my whitetail pack as well anytime I'm on public and would prefer to just quarter and pack it out. The one piece of private access I only get to once or twice a year and can just load it up in the truck to their cleaning station so the bags don't usually come along.

Umm...Wow! Did you make the shoulder and waist straps as well? Absolutely stunning packs. Pete

Thanks! Other than the obvious hardware, zippers, etc. they’re 100% built from scratch.

The actual sewing doesn’t take a whole lot of time. Planning it and figuring how to put it together is the hard part.

Would love to see the patterns you used for the suspension and frame. Great Work!

I just studied every picture of a kifaru I could find on the internet and asked a couple questions on basic dimensions and came up with my own. I’ve had a bit of a career shift, but at the time I was designing in solidworks all day so I used it to make drawings and mock it up.

Most of the parts were easy to just mark up with a ruler, square, and pencil on the fabric. For a couple of pieces I printed out 1:1 scale drawings for a template.

Cut a couple of different harness shapes out of cardboard till I got it to fit how I wanted.

There’s a mostly full step by step thread on rokslide for the first build. The second one is similar, with a couple minor alterations to the design.

Amazing stuff.

Here's a really simple project. You can sew some simple nylon ribbon to stealth strips to create a gear tether. It holds awesome. Just sew the ribbon to the fabric before you remove the paper.

I've thought about sewing up a card holder for the back of my phone, but I haven't attempted it yet.

I have also wanted to make some type of holder for all my gear that sits in front of me on the tree. Something to hold a book, phone, grunt tube, rattle bag etc.

Are you going to bedazzle that card holder? #mailinmancard lol
