Youth Mantis Prototype ready to go!!

My kids join me all the time. It’s actually really easy, especially on presets. We use cheap ladder sticks and leave them in the tree along with a lifeline just like you would with a tree stand. This allows for 100% tie off which is better than a linesman’s belt for kids.

When mobile hunting I carry a lifeline and climb first, set my platforms and have my kid climb up while tied to the lifeline.

I think I’ll make a video and post it soon. It seems a lot of guys have been asking about it quite a bit lately.

So I was thinking of the same setup (assuming two to a tree was feasible) but with a permanent lifeline, but I was worried about the weathering. Climbing up first, setting up the lifeline, and maybe slapping a ropeman on it would work great for my son. Only reason I didn't think of that was because I was gonna preset some trees with cheap steel tree ladders and lifeline for myself too, just have no idea how much the elements would impact the line. Amazing how I can sometimes box myself in when thinking things through.

Not sure how bad it is for the rope but I leave mine up for the season and pull them down for the rest of the year.
