Official " Tethrd Mantis " Review Thread!

Now that a few XL's are out in customers hands and hopefully some L's as well looking for info on sizing.
I am 5'7" and avg between 170-180#, waist from 33-34, hunt early to late season and layering and adding clothing could be an issue. I am more of a leaner but sit to rest often. Ordered a medium with the adjusters but wondering if a L would not be a better fit especially with the micro adjusters. @g2outdoors

I have a similar build and went with the L. I think it was @BassBoysLLP that said when in doubt, go with the larger size.

Im about the same specs as you, just 3" shorter. I ordered a large. I was on the fence so I decided to go up.

A medium or large will fit you fine. Large will give you more room for layers. Medium will result in a smaller perceived bridge and result in a but more available tether length.

The microadjusters dont adjust the waist. They just provide a little lift in the butt area which changes the distribution of pressure.

Appreciate the responses. Seems almost everyone sizes up when on the fence but I have decided to stick with the medium. I seldom wear bulky clothes now that I am layering with, silks, merino wool, and good outer layers.

I went with medium (34 jean waist size) this is going in my bare minimal run and gun set up.

Got mine couple days ago, but it's been nothing but work and rain since. Hung for 15 minutes, the other day. Looks to be made solid. I'm shortening the bridge, just too long, gets in the road of my draw. It pinches a bit more than my Kestrel, but pretty sure that's because of the bridge. It is lite... Don't think anyone has mentioned that

Got me a little present when I got home tonight! I’m one of the lucky bigger boys that ordered an XL early on and she arrived today.

The saddle itself weighed in exactly as they stated for an XL, 18 oz. With the Tethrd tether, Tethrd linesman belt, 3 Wild Country biners and a Ropeman 1, total weight is 3 lbs 3 oz... not too shabby!

Hung in her for about half an hour tonight before the skeeters drove me nuts. Comfy! Love the stretchy mesh, nice and cool too. Still waiting on the micro fit adjusters, really think I can dial it in with those. I wore it around the pole barn for an hour too, don’t hardly even notice it’s there!

Build quality is a 10/10. I definitely trust my life 20’ in the air with this thing on. If I do my part, it ain’t gonna be this saddle that fails.

Hope to get some longer sits in it over the next week so I can add more thoughts, but initially, this thing rocks.

Can’t wait to shoot my first deer out of this baby!!

You think the longer bridge is causing you hip pinch? Typically it decreases hip pinch to have a longer bridge.

Yeah, should say the pinch/clearance is not so much the length of the bridge, but the position. Between the two, mantis and Kestrel, the loops the bridge connect to have a different angle. I shortened the bridge and the tether is still a bit closer to my draw on the mantis. Loops seem to angle higher up across my stomach with the same tether height . I was able to mess around a bit yesterday, sliding the saddle up and down on my butt. It's nothing huge, just noticeable. catching the tether with my arm is my biggest concern. Shooting a compound would be fine I believe , but I shoot traditional, and cant a bit, putting me closer anyways . Also, it's only an issue shooting at a narrow window, around 9o clock. Anything less or more, and I'm rotated enough That things clear. Definitely not a show stopper, but I'd like to work it out

Sounds more like a tether height issue to change that angle, if I’m following what you are saying right.

Spent about 3.5 hours in the mantis yesterday. It is well made, and I can’t say enough about how light it is. The linesmans loops are in the right place for climbing. I like the amsteel bridge. It rides higher than my kestrel. I used the kestrel backrest with it and have the mantis recliner on order but may not even use it with exception to all day sits. It wasn’t all positive though. I think I need the adjusters to come in before I can say how comfortable it is. I was comfortable leaning without them. When sitting I found if I fiddled with the bridge and forced them down on the loops about an inch it was really comfortable. It just didn’t stay there. I’m pretty sure the adjusters will accomplish the same feel and stay comfortable. That said it was a nasty leaning tree that probably wasn’t optimum for comfort no matter what. My tether was also in a fork and that didn’t allow me to play with tether height either. Overall I think it’s a solid saddle. I think the adjusters will make it a win for me.

Thanks for the report! I think I’m missing something. What is the “adjusters”?

The MicroFit Adjusters attach to the bridge attachment loops and allow an adjustment to "cup" more under your thighs to find the most comfortable weight distribution while sitting. They will be shipping soon, when the other sewn goods arrive from the sewing contractor.MicroFits2.jpgMicroFits.jpg

Oh shoot! So does that have to ordered separately?

Yes. If you pre ordered the mantis they gave an option for either a sys hauler or microfit adjusters as a freebie. So I’d check to see if you picked them

First time poster, but long time saddle user. I didn’t even know this site existed until recently. I am glad I found it! So, here is my review.

I recieved my Mantis and Predator on Friday...Which was a total surprise because I didn’t receive a shipping notification. Anyway, the first thing that caught my eye was how well the Mantis was made. The stitching was perfect. I can’t find a flaw in it. This thing is super light! I can’t wait to walk past all the guys lugging climbers on my local WMA. Lol!

The Predator was great as well. I did have the same noise problem that has been reported, but I hit it with Graphite and that issue has disappeared. I also had fraying on my strap after the first use, but I have an extra XOP strap that I plan on using instead. Aside from that, this platform is awesome!

Overall, I am really happy with my purchase. I feel as though I have an unfair advantage with this system. I can not wait until my beast sticks to arrive and I will have the ultimate mobile setup!
