Charles Aslheimer and Dr. Leonard Lee Rue have tremendous works on whitetail biology. John Eberhart is a good read. There's a Bama boy I'm obligated to promote as well, Dr. Robert Sheppard. @WHW hasn't written any books that I'm aware of, but I believe he has/had a blog, and he's a regular on here.
Read through that, and you'll be ahead of 99% of the game. Take it all with a grain of salt and temper it with your own experiences. I disregard most rut hunting strategies, would hunt with a Nerf gun before I blew a call or poured pee out, and don't have an ounce of faith in scent control. But the authors listed above have killed a LOT of deer, and the first two lived with their research herds and literally wrote the book on whitetail biology.

I like Eberhart. He puts alot of work into his season...in the off season. And helped me change the way I look at my hunting areas. I always looked/aerial scouted, now I'm more analytical with it. I have Mapping Trophy Bucks as well. Worth the read. Picked up a few things that I had seen in the woods but hadn't quite clicked for me.

Not specifically deer hunting, but I have read several land navigation books. Even simple "for dummies" type books. It's drastically helped my deer hunting.
Sheppard’s book on white tails is my scientific go to. I read it every season - it gets rid of any Disney notions about deer I’ve developed in the offseason.
I took some good stuff from Eberhart and Bill Vale’s books too.

Hunting Beast DVDs. I’ve self taught myself since 2007 on hunting wind, thermals, bedding, etc. and considered myself smarter than the average bear. With maps I’ve always did extremely well. Dan’s series really pulled it altogether and made sense of some it all. Dans method of mapping big bucks and using wind and thermals really opened my eyes.
I have the Mapping trophy bucks. I’ve had years of studying maps as a hobby, and I’m considered a map nerd by my military friends. So this book was a good reminder, refresher, and I picked up a few pointers. I was looking for a PhD and I got a undergraduate course. However, this is a must read for any hunter.
Precision Whitetails and bowhunting Pressured Whitetails are both excellent. John’s a huge activated carbon guy, and he’s got the deer to back it up. I have my views on it, I have my life to live, and sometimes I don’t have time follow an extreme ritual. Other than that those books are excellent sources and good reads.
You should add podcasts into your mix as well as YouTube.
The truth from the stand, hunting public, hunting beast, hunting the empire, white knuckle, wired to hunt are a few of my favorites.
What’s awesome is most of these guys are on this forum tossing out free advise, ideas, or asking you questions.

Some hard truths in Sheppard's book for sure. But like he says, he don't make the rules.
I have the Marsh Bedding DVD of Dan’s, picked up a bunch from it, and was curious as to how different the Swamp Bedding DVD is? Much different subject material?
