I had my first hunt from my mantis. It seemed to continually slide up. Leaving me trying to pull it down time and again. Is this the norm for saddles? Or am I wearing in incorrectly?.. I am primarily a learner. With an occasional sit to relieve my feet. I enjoy saddle hunting. And I do not believe it is the saddle itself. Because I had the same issues with my previous saddle. Any input would be appreciated

What was your tether height? Too high is usually what does it. Also, try placing the mantis waist belt a lot lower than you would a normal belt. Are you using a platform, ring of steps or just standing on the top of a stick?

Ring of steps. I have tried from forehead to over my head. But I have also had the belt set a little higher than I would wear a normal belt. So maybe I need to lower the mantis on me

Definitely go lower, possibly way lower. Also, do you have the micro adjusters for your Mantis?

I had the exact same issue yesterday in my morning and evening hunt. Didn’t matter if I was sitting or leaning. I was constantly having to pull it down. It was frustrating. I was happy with my first 2 saddle hunts though. I raised and lowered my tether and didn’t seem to change much. I can’t wait for my back band. I wonder if the micro adjusters will help keep the saddle from rising up?? I would like to try a kestrel some time for a comparison.

I usually run my tether from forehead, to upper lip height.

Try tightening up the micro adjusters, they should help. Only you can figure out where they need to be and it may be different every sit.

Rather than wearing a belt has anyone ran the waist strap through a couple belt loops? Wonder if that would help or make things worse?

This is the only thing keeping me from ordering a Mantis. I made a kestrel clone that was one piece of fabric without the cupping in the seat portion much like the Mantis has. I could never keep it from riding up. Even when I added adjustment straps for the strap that goes under your butt. The Kestrel has 4 pieces of fabric sewn together for the seat that forms kind of a cup for your butt to sit in and it keeps it from riding up. My Kestrel stays put and is super comfortable. I am primarily a sitter. I think that leaners dont have this problem with the Mantis because they are leaning against the saddle instead of trying to sit in it. I have read the tether height suggestions for the Mantis and while I think that would help I cant help but think that with my kestrel I never have to fine tune the tether height I just put it somewhere close to head height and forget about it.

Couldn’t agree more. I thought the mesh on the mantis would stretch and cup more , but it doesn’t seem too. The Kestrel is more comfortable but the mantis is more packable. I can hunt from either.

Been hoping to hear the Mantis solved this problem. My kestrel rides up on me - I’m a leaner and am skinny - I end up wearing it loose and low on the hips but still have to adjust it down often. The adjustment straps on the kestrel don’t help me. I have been running a forehead height tether and will be testing it much lower to see if the angle change is indeed the ticket. I don’t know how much lower leaners can go with the mantis and it’s stock bridge though
