Any new platforms hitting the market this year? I like the Predator, and will most likely purchase one this year - I just wish there were more options out there to drive that Predator price down a little!
 
I'm new to the forum and I'm considering a saddle to buy this spring to get used to it by fall. Interested to see some of the responses. Since I'm buying the whole saddle, bridge, tether combination....looking for multiple platform options. I like the mini versions that attach to the top of a climbing stick but being new to the game, not sure how big that platform needs to be? I have size 13's....so probably need a little size there for comfort I would guess.
 
There was mention of xop building one. Honestly I would expect it to be marketed at a similar price point. There are some on here building pretty cheap diy platforms with scooter steps. I really haven’t kept up with them but the predator is as good as I’ve seen with that type of platform. There’s also a chance that once they have stock for a while the price on used ones will decrease. I have seen them sell over retail just because they could get it now.

The predator platform is plenty big enough for my size 13 boots with a little room to spare. If you want to put on a pair of heavy insulated bibs it gets small in a hurry. It’s doable but small. It’s about the best balance of size to eight while being stable and without a lot of diy stuff to get there.
 
The Predator is a great platform I think. I'm personally using a DIY scooter platform just because I got some cheap foot rests on eBay. I wear size 13 boots and this 10x12 platform is perfect. The Predator is 12x14.

I have looked into reselling those foot rests in a platform configuration but with my costs on everything they would have to sell for $120 without free shipping. Getting close to the price of a Predator.

If it's safe and reasonable to set up - $120 sounds way better than $180 for a place to put your feet.

I noticed the squirrel steps on his site when I bought the angled double steps (which are awesome!) for my LW sticks.

With my current WE step platform setup, I'm finding I want to momentarily stand to make saddle or clothing adjustments. May be my inexperience with saddle hunting since I've just made it through my first season with the saddle, but my takeaway is that a platform would have made things a little easier/safer 25 feet up for those situations.

I can't speak for a platform because I've never used one. I do make adjustments and add upper layers of clothing in the saddle all the time though. Some of them can be done just by shifting position in the saddle briefly. If I need to make larger adjustments or add a large piece of clothing I'll hook up my lineman's belt briefly so that I can fully stand and lean into it.
 
I use the Predator (size 13 boots) and it works great for me. I don't add lower layers in the tree. In fact I typically wear all my lower layers in and climb in them. I stay cool by packing all my upper layers in and putting them on once in the tree. I double girth hitch a piece of paracord around my jackets and run that thru my bow. I then attach that to my pull up string to that. Once I have things set in the tree I pull up my bow and upper layers. Putting them on in the saddle is not a problem. I put them on then pull the zipper ends down around and in front of my hips before zipping them up.

This sounds like what I need to do... Thanks for sharing.
 
The idea behind Tethrd is to get it off the ground and recruit more people into saddle hunting. Right now we have to charge higher prices because our quantities are so low. If we could do 10,000 piece orders like the big tree stand companies, or manufacture everything in China, the prices could definitely come down. Volume = better pricing.

Unfortunately for a completely custom niche product, with specific saddle hunting features, manufactured in small quantities right here in the USA with a focus on safety, the prices have to be a bit higher.
