I am trying to use the versa strap on my platform. I am having difficulty getting the strap tight enough to get the platform to properly cam over and lock down.

Video for reference any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had the same issue with the Tethrd supplied strap. I just had to spend a little more time pressing the post down before camming it over. It's not the strap, there's just a learning curve to getting it to seat tight to the tree.

Are you pulling the platform down before cam locking it? With all my hang one and I would say this as well once strap is on with platform still up pull the stand down the tree to take up any slack in strap than lower platform which will lock to tree.

What @Labonte.r said. If that doesn't get it tight enough, the initial cam will take most of the slack out of the strap, now uncam the stand, pull it down again and recam. It should be tight.

I’ve been having the same problem. Last night I stepped down on the top of the post to push it down and it still pulled away from tree when I stood on platform. I think the size of tree had something to do with it. When I tested it on the power pole it worked great. But can’t get it to not pull away when hunting. The trees have been a lot larger then the power pole though. So I’m thinking that may be part of it

This is what I do

Maybe that tree had a knot or other irregularity that made the platform ride up a little after camming? I had that happen once with my lone wolf hang on. After 2 or 3 failed attempts I decided to just finish the hunt.

Make sure you get the tightest loop over the knob by turning the predator post somewhat horizontal. Keep it uncammed at this point. Once you get that loop over the knob, push the post down the tree pretty hard, then cam it over. Hope this helps!

I have had the same issue on 4-5 different hunts. I have put the original strap back on my predator now. I could never get it tight enough to put any side pressure on the platform.

Toe hook that thing like a lock on. It will get it tight.

I've got a video made of how to toe hook, it failed to upload to YouTube 4 times yesterday. I will try again tonight.

Be careful with pressure when camming over while doing the toe hook method on the Gen 1 platforms. They will break. I found that out the hard way. Just when you think it’s all the way cammed over one pop and the platform is junk. No sense in breaking it on purpose when you can lock it by hand just as easily. I predict Ernie will be really busy replacing Gen 1 platforms in the near future with this method.

I wondered about a couple of variable amsteel loops at the end to fine tune the strap if it is not quite the right length.

You don't need them. I'm uploading a video now where I show how to use the Versa Strap and Predator. I walk around and successfully hook up to several different trees.
