I’m a dummy when it comes to aiders, I need a simple 3 step movable aider to loop over the top of helium’s or lone wolfs. I’ve tried searching and have seen so many options my head is hurting, I just need a nudge in the right direction, also links earn you bonus points!

Sorry forgot to specify. That’s my intentions, is to make it myself, I’ve seen so many styles I’m not sure which would work the best for a movable aider, or how much webbing I would need

Buy 30 ft spool of climb rated tubular webbing. Spool off enough to reach from top of stick to lowest loop of aider doubled. Pull off another 8 or so feet for knots but don't cut it yet. Get it your bottom loop made and most r using short length of climbing rope inserted in tubular webbing for loop support. Once bottom loop is tied check overall length again and make knot upwards from bottom loop which for most is 20-22 inches from lowest step loop. Use short section of climbing rope in these loops for rigidity as well. I use 18 inches of climbing rope and it seems to work well. When last step is done and all r evenly spaced check overall length and let out some from spool if more length is needed. Once all loops r good and u r ready to close the top knot most are using water knot.

Just keep in mind the more steps you add to an aider the more unstable they CAN be as weight shifts. Personally, I use a single loop and with my modified heliums my top step is between 6-6.5 foot. I routinely get 20 foot with my 3 sticks and aider and can stretch it to 21-22 foot if I really want to stretch things out. Not knocking multiple step aiders just a simple warning that IME it gets more difficult the more steps added to an aider- especially in colder temps and in the dark.

Yeah, also thought of a double or single step movable aider for 2 sticks, and a 3 step fixed aider for the bottom

Tie a continuous loop. Tie in steps. Add rigidity to the steps with tubing or whatever you fancy, or don't. It's simple as pie, it just take sitting down with a few beers to adjust everything right where you want it. Start with about 2x as much rope/webbing as you think you need, the knots suck up a lot of rope. Center everything so that your knot jams into the stick bracket, this adds nice stability.

If using accessory cord, double fisherman's knot for the loop and figure 8 follow through for the steps.

If using webbing, all water knots.

This one is 7mm accessory cord. I also made one of out webbing. I don't have a strong preference between the two.

Three steps is very aggressive for an aider. I like two. I pretty much always use both steps on my bottom stick. Higher than that I usually just use one step. It's a lot easier to kick out with two steps than one.

With a 5 step I’d have to use a cheater to even set my first stick high enough to use the whole aider lol

I would say nube, but you will get it. I am wanting to try a saddle, and was advised to join this we. and learn I am getting a demonstration from a guy weds. and am considering a saddle by H2 near me in mi. so , my first nube question is , what is an aider?

Yes but keep in mind if you want to move it you can hook to the top step and you still have three steps below the bottom step in most cases

In this case an aider will hang from my climbing sticks adding additional steps to get higher in the tree with less sticks.

But bought 100 feet of tubular webbing from rw ropes as I was already purchasing ropes for rope mods from there as well

To me a 2 step is as long as you can go and still have hands on your stick to stabilize your self.

I guess it depends on your step length. 2’ per step with two steps puts the bottom of the stick 6’ off the ground so I don’t see a need for a third. Three 16” steps wouldn’t be bad either.

Yeah I think I’m gonna make a 2 step and a three step and try each one out, worried about kick out with a 3 step

The comment on stability is legit. I had a single loop. I got really comfortable with it. So I bought a 5 step aider and slowly got my comfort level on using all 5 steps. My point is that the weight on them is hardly noticeable, it's professionally manufactured and if you only ever get comfortable with 3 that's all you use. Good luck!

Good idea. You might even sketch it out on paper and see if 1 or 2 makes sense. With top step at about 6’ I can’t imagine needing three steps unless you’re using mini sticks.

Full size helium’s, call me cheap but paid to much to cut them down lol

Full size aint bad if you can take advantage of it. I’m running full length but can set the top at 7’ and still get up with a single step aider. Bit of a stretch but I can do it.
