Adrena123, got my new hand climber and bought grade 8, 5/16” x 1”. I bought the two nuts for each bolt. If you were doing a new one today, would you go this route or use a hose clamp or some way to add something to the arm instead of drilling the platform?

May not do anything but add the bolt mod, but thinking....

Easiest way to mod it (I've done several) is to 1) raise the arm to 50 degrees (snug arm bolts so arm doesn't move around)
2) place nut under arm and make a pencil mark in center of nut hole.
3) move nut and drill hole
4) install a 5/16 bolt (1 inch) and 2 nuts or a coupler nut ... done deal
Definitely helps...I also think some people drilled the hole too high and lost surface area strength, if that makes sense.Only thing I did different was add a washer to the inside at the bolt head contact area to help distribute the load a little better. Its just a thin washer that I intended to let deform slightly when tightened to match the contour of the internal reinforcement area. IDK if it really helps but it does for my mind sake at least. Having the washers on both sides more evenly distributing the stress just adds to piece of mind for me...…. My .02

Agreed... I made sure my coupler nut is in contact with the original ramp before drilling for added support as well.
While inspecting mine last week I did find a crack in the casting. Its out on the very end where I stand and feet make contact. Completely separated, I took it an bridged the gap between the spaces with paracord and cinched it tight. Problem solved.
