Trophyline Ambush Lite

That’s the one. Also, no sewing really needed. It just keeps the buckle from falling off if you loosen it up too much. The belt is not weight-bearing, so you could use any 2” buckle. I went a little overkill, just in case.

Awesome man! This is exactly what I was looking for. Jontay.com had the cobra interlocking buckle but with shipping it’s nearly $40! Way to expensive. Especially for a buckle that’s not load bearing. Thanks for posting bro! god bless and Merry Christmas happy holidays

Removed the factory buckle today. Bought a pack of plastic cinches and a Cobra buckle. Install is pretty straight forward and doesn't require any sewing. Cut the stock buckle off, melt the end and you're done. I put a cinch on the longer end to keep the tag end in check too.

I got around to trying a different pouch for my ropes today too. It has Velcro tabs on the ends to keep it from unzipping all the way and is way stiffer than the TL one. I think it's going to work way better.

If allowed can you post links to the stuff you bought? Thanks

Sad we have to add the right hardware but I get its TL’s business decision to keep costs competitively low. Anyway, I just ordered this ITW Nexus quick release buckle off Amazon. 2”x2”. Perfect and reasonable. Check it out.

Btw, as you know the belt system is non-load bearing so you can go with any kind of belt buckle that will stay locked.

I agree but you definitely hit the nail on the head. I'll say adding the buckle makes putting on the saddle on so much easier and well worth it since I really like the saddle itself and how solid it feels wearing it in.

For sure. The Cobra buckle is super overkill but it's a nice solid piece and I like to carry stuff on the saddle without worrying about it falling off.

Agreed. I looked at some inexpensive plastic buckles on Amazon but didn’t trust them to hold up to any sort of abuse in cold weather. They’d probably be fine, but I KNOW the Cobra will be.

I'm getting a TL for a backup saddle for Christmas. I plan on doing the Cobra mod with the aluminum as well. I'll try the stock pouches and see how they hold up. I'm also thinking about cutting the leg loops and putting a buckle on them to make them adjustable as well. Won't be sure until I put it on and hang from it.

You can’t go wrong with the cobra

I hunted this evening. It’s my 3rd sit in the saddle and it was very uncomfortable today for some reason. I think it’s because the prussic is way too long and my tether has to be higher. My tether is almost a foot above my head. I shortened the prussic when I got home so hopefully it helps.
Any update on saddle comfort? In the same boat, only a few sits and can't quite get it dialed in for a comfortable sit.

I’m finally dialed in. Do not lose faith! It takes a little time. Some longer than others. The worst way to figure it all out is when you’re hunting. It adds too much stress mentally and you’ll wind up selling the saddle and regretting it down the road. Practice until you have it down second nature. Or if you’re a glutton for punishment continue climbing on your hunts and figure it out. Lol.

The problem I have at this time is NO PLATFORM! my Hawk seat mod didn’t work out long term. The brackets that bite the tree (aftermarket Lone Wolf brackets) are cheaply made and snapped when I climbed up onto the platform last week. That was fun! So now I have to save for the Podium because I refuse to pay $180 for a Predator.

First impressions from a new saddle hunter. Everything seems well made and pretty easy to get comfortable with the way they work. Using my DIY platform and a single helium stick I was able to get a feel for things. Overall I think I'm going to like it and saddle hunting in general. I did expect to feel a little more pressure on my thighs creating more of a seat but it seemed like no matter how many adjustments I made the majority of the pressure was on my lower back. Also felt like my feet were sliding forward in my boots if I chose to lean but I'm sure that's mostly due to the boots I was wearing. I do see that I'm going to need some knee pads if I'm going to try sitting.

Just got my TL AP for Christmas and sitting in it as much as I can before the end of the season. I'm experiencing the same lower back pressure, do you have an update in position to relieve that pressure?

I had the exact same issue, 0/10 would recommend. I even gave it the benefit of the doubt by actually sitting in it as it's purposed for, and it was so wobbly I would have never hunted out of it.

Check out mtw brush buster, they are based in Jasper, Ga (hometown of saddle inventor Mr green) and make a pretty cool platform.

@ap_rustic_creations, What does your system look like? tether height? length from girth hitch to bridge? position of saddle on body? My lower back is killing me after every sit. At this point with just 1 day left in the season. I don't mind the many many adjustments to get comfortable even in a tree hunting.

Hey @bryancambell423 I wear the saddle just below the belt so that once I’m up and hooked in it slides into place. The tether is about as high as my forehead and I leave the bridge the way it came when I received it. I’m not sure about the length of girth hitch because I change it dependent upon how I’m positioned. I lengthen to sit down (knee pads a MUST!” and shorten to the point where get a decent lean and can maneuver around tree. Btw my back does not hurt at all and I have a bad back. I’ve yet to make my back support, but when I do this should really offer more support.
