Well after spending probably over a hundred hours at this point on my Predator since putting the nylon bushings in the post I have not had it make one single sound. I've also had several people ask me to take pictures so I drilled out my gen2 today and took a few photos along the way. The fix is pretty simple I just went to the Ace Hardware dug through the bends until I found some half inch nylon spacers. I had to drill the post out to 1/2 inch and the ID on the spacers out to 5/16. I simply inserted two 1/2 inch and one 1/4 inch spacer into the hole of the post and reassembled everything. Pretty simple took me about 15 minutes total.
I stated this somewhere else but can't remember what thread I believe the Predator review thread. I want to make sure everybody knows before they do this fix if they choose to that it will probably void your warranty. I have not specifically ask Ernie or Greg or anybody else with tethrd about this, but I'm making the assumption that it would. I'm also assuming that it would alleviate them from any responsibility if your platform failed. As you can see from the pictures there's plenty of material left after the posts is drilled. I have absolutely zero fear that the post will fail, but please do this modification at your own risk if you choose to do so.

I would also like to say I was originally looking for some kind of Teflon spacer. @swampsnyper was kind enough to point these nylon spacers out to me that he found at the local home improvement store in his area. I happen to go to an Ace Hardware to find mine and went with two different sizes as they did not have a inch and a quarter. Thanks for the recommendation swampsnyper. I've since ceased looking for teflon spacers as these have worked flawlessly.

Nice work! Did you have noise from the platform after waxing it or was this a once and done kinda thing? I’d like to hear from someone if this does indeed void the warranty if the platform itself where to break at the tree contact V. I don’t think you will ever have issues with the post.

Never waxed it. Wanted something that couldn't wear off/out after the noise spooked a deer. So one and done.

I'm sure this works but what I did was take platform bolt out and wrap heavy duty duct tape around the holes in post and then put tape over the holes in platform and then cut an "x" in the tape with the tip of a sharp knife. Then if you force the bolts through the tape and put a few drops of oil on all sides of the holes in platform and the post. The tape will absorb some of the oil it won't pop again. I did my predator that way as soon as I got it and never made a noise. I've done this with my loc on stands for 25 years. It works.

What is the coldest temps that you've used your fix? Just wondering if it continues to be silent into the low 20s, which is about the temp that our wax job has gotten undependable. We get some popping when its that cold. I'm ready to try your fix, but I need to know if it works down into the teens...using gen 1 BTW.

Tom, I'm sure Denots will be along shortly but I'd be very surprised if his fix didn't work in cold weather as well as warm. The properties of the nylon should remain very consistent throughout the temperature range.
I'm going to order a Gen 2 Predator and I'll be adding bushings to mine.

Brother I wish I could answer that. The coldest weather I've had this year was in the 30's, with an average of about 50(mosquito's bitting me as I type this). I agree with @ricky racer that the cold shouldn't affect it, but it would be a lie to say I know for sure. For about 2-3 dollar's it sure can't hurt. If nothing else you still have a platform that works as well as before it was drilled.

Rick, did you try this fix? and did it work ? I was shooting my bow on my predator yesterday ,it was making all kinds of popping sounds ? I used it all last season never made a sound .

I'm in the market for a platform and had it down to the Predator/XL, Ridge Runner and the Trophyline Mission.
Looks like the Pred might be out. I don't want to spend the money on a platform then have to fix a problem. I will try the Pred before I make up my mind 100%

Has anyone tried this with a brass bushing? Seems like durability could be an issue with the nylon as there has to be a tremendous amount of force on the bolt when camming...has anyone who has used the nylon had to change it out- maybe the nylon is tougher than it seems...
Rick

So you drilled a 1/2 hole through the whole post and then took the spacers and drilled them out to 5/16? Also did you put the 1/4 spacer in between the two 1/2 spacers?

This will be my third season coming up with the nylon bushing. It's such a tight fit there's no room for defamation and the nylon is not seeing enough repetitive movement to wear. I don't think it would be beneficial to use a different material but you could always try it
