Ok, I have a question. (Hand raised)

How loud is the Kool Aid, I mean Hickory Creek in comparison to a crossbow? I know that is a generic question as I am sure crossbows are all different and not all the same but the few crossbows I have shot were very loud in comparison to a compound.

I'd put it between the two. Closer to my compound.

Just tighten it as much as you can. Check to see if the d ring is centered on the stock from the side. If not, loosen the opposite side limb bolt from the direction you want it to go slightly. That should get you there. I cranked mine all the was and the d loop was perfectly centered.

I did the same cranked all the way tight it was still centered

Pretty quiet really

Honestly, I am just surprised no one told me to get both :sunglasses:. That’s usually what happens around here.

I think the Hickory Creek Mini is the Harley-Davidson of the bow world. Its not all that fast but fast enough, pulls all sorts of tail...whitetail, made of domestic and imported parts in the USA (I think), looks super cool, parts rattle off and every nut and bolt needs loctite, some factory parts work but could use replacement, comfortable.

It is so light it seems to me to be the moped of the bow world. Large enough to get you there but small enough to be handy.

How are u guys carrying in the woods? Walking holding the back grip and holding at your side? Feel like it needs a single point sling for walking and being able to go hands free if needed but still being accessible for a shot.

I have thought the single point sling would be nice. I usually walk with my right hand holding as you say.

I've taken my AR-15 sling off and toyed around with different ways to carry it and they all seem to interfere with the front handle or, if flipped, the quiver. I carry my compound bow in but for some reason for me the Hickory Creek Mini just seems slightly more awkward when moving through thick stuff or longer walks. It could just be me and the simple fact I have only carried this into the woods less than 1 month of one season and haven't found the "sweet spot" to carry it yet.

I couldn't figure out a good place to attach a single point sling that wouldn't interfere with the string travel.

I hooked it to the buttstock but ya might as well carry it at that point. There's a lot of threaded holes all over the thing though where I'm sure a stud could be attached. I'm sure one of us could come up with something if wanted/needed.

One thing bugging me about my HC mini is the safety. When I'm walking through brush and look down it is frequently off. It doesn't stay on safe. I should try locktite or something. Does anyone else have this problem?

Shot the Mini thru the chronograph the other day. Draw weight maximum. 324, 320 fps.
@larasea - thanks for sharing that info. As it turns out, just one week ago I asked Jerry Goff (Owner of Hickory Creek) what velocity to expect from my Mini with the 23 inch, 300 spine Victory arrows with a 100 gr tip, with the draw weight maxed out. (Those are the ones he sold me with the new Mini back in March of this year.) He replied, "Typically, we and others have gotten 320-330 fps." So your results are right where they should be. Hope this info is helpful to others who were wondering.

I measured my HC mini with the same arrows and heads. I got 295 FPS with my limb bolts each turned out 2 turns. That's how I hunt.

Mine shoots 280fps with 475gr arrows, fully cranked. Could be 290 I’m going off memory.

I had my mini hanging off left side of tree(with trigger next to tree. I managed to slide safety off and shoot the bow trying to unhang it. It’s not my favorite thing, having a razor sharp arrow on a loaded bow. I’ve tossed around some different ways to address, and building a trigger guard may be the answer for me. Might mess with it when I pull the mini out to check zero in next few days.
