Hickory Creek Koolaid

Mine shoots 280fps with 475gr arrows, fully cranked. Could be 290 I’m going off memory.

I had my mini hanging off left side of tree(with trigger next to tree. I managed to slide safety off and shoot the bow trying to unhang it. It’s not my favorite thing, having a razor sharp arrow on a loaded bow. I’ve tossed around some different ways to address, and building a trigger guard may be the answer for me. Might mess with it when I pull the mini out to check zero in next few days.

I had a similar incident. I had the mini hanging on its stirrup and somehow managed to get the safety off and fire it while moving it. I had a good 10 seconds of wondering if an arrow was going to come down on my head. I don't like that safety at all. I called Jerry and told him and he told me to just tighten the screw on the safety. Mine was loose and tightening it did seem to fix it. But, everything gets loose over time. Let us know if you come up with something.

It's one of the reasons I sold it eventually (amongst a few others).

Mine has a trigger guard on the front only.

I had to tighten the safety on mine too. Time for a confession though...

I almost never have my safety on when I am in the woods or at the range. Only time I use it is if I am with someone hunting in close proximity. Something like a duck blind situation. 95% of the time my gun is in my hands and ready to do what I brought it out to do. Shot opportunities sometimes come and go in an instant in our thick terrain.

I also am lucky in that it's just me and my wife in our home. Every time somebody has ever asked me if my gun was loaded the answer is "Yes, and it has no safety." Even if that's not strictly true. Call me crazy, but when you need a gun you need it NOW, and I think the world would be a safer place if everybody assumed every gun was loaded and ready to go off. Hence, no safeties.

Who wants to come down and go hunting? ;)

I would still hunt with you...

...so long as you walk in front.

Yes. I had to tighten safety all the time. Always comes loose until I added thread locker
I can't get the screw on safety to stay tight. It seems you have to tighten something every time you shoot it.

No, I'm good.

Put the nylon nut on just for peace of mind I think. Wobble uncocked is gone.
Shooting the DCA arrows from Jerry with 125gr Kudu contour plus. Shooting good out to 30.

No happy with scope, but I have a few weeks to find one.

They’re discontinued so you’re shopping used or new surplus somewhere. I found mine on eBay. Will work with any crossbow you ever get that shoots between 250-380fps.443258C4-1946-4847-A79A-5515A77E2CF2.jpeg

This was the closest one that I could find. The top dial looks different and it doesn't look to come with any mount or rings.

@kyler1945 does this look comparable to yours? I called and the rep wasn't sure and hadn't heard of Hickory Creek. Screenshot_20200930-202713_Chrome.jpg

looks different, have no idea if it will work. I think the model I have is red hot pin point. Looks like you get to be the guinea pig!

let us know if it works. Any scope will work. Some better than others.

Where did you get the original tree bark camo?
That top and bottom I bought from Jim Crumley himself probably 3 years ago...it was part of his private stash  ive had the jones cap a long time...have a bunch more too. Pick it up whenever I find it. Trebark and mossy oak trestand are my camo of choice.

Me too but I can't find the original.. im always looking tho

Were you hunting out of a saddle? The Recon?

Curious how the loading process went from a saddle. Do folks load it on the ground then haul it up?
Due to a pitchfork injury...long story.....I can't really take pressure on my achilles for too long before its pretty uncomfortable...So I was hunting out of my windwalker. I did practice cooking it from the recon on steps with no problem though.

The Hickory Creek gets the job done...ranged at 37yrds after I shot. Not huge by any means...but good eating!
