Saturday. Spent about half the day looking for a good spot to hunt Saturday morning on a piece of public near me. I have better places public and private that are just too far away for hunts that are only a couple hours. Didn't find a good morning stand so I'm shooting dove in the morning and putting the kestrel to the rest Saturday evening.
@g2outdoors I love morning hunts in the early season. It's cooler, and I can trail deer in the daylight instead of 9:00 at night. I usually only hunt a couple hours in the morning in September. I spook more deer in the early season in the morning time walking to the stand. There's just so much food that you don't really know where they will be. I also walked about 3 miles yesterday in creek bottoms bordered by planted pines and never saw the first rub. I may have a chance to get one of those velvet antlered bucks. That doesn't happen often in Georgia. I usually start seeing rubs about the middle of August.
