I dont get it I've registered for 3 years now and I cant get one damn hunt. I had 9 preference points and I registered for 19 deer hunts. Im ticked off.

Dude. I just got the email I didn't get selected and I put in for all 92 deer hunts.

Doesn't make sense, I really thought this was the year. I guess I'll get my hopes up again next year. Do you get more preference points if you register for more hunts?

Kinda. You get a point every time you register for a particular hunt. I've got 3 years of points accumulated for the old SOA hunts, but only 1 now for all the new ones. But if you and I have both registered for say, the January 20th hunt at Cedar Creek for 3 years, I don't have more points than you just because I register for everything. We both would have 3 points. If you get drawn it resets.

I think I did it too quick this year I registered for like 80 Hunts or at least I thought I did. Apparently all I did was add them to my cart did y’all have to select register for hot and then do something extra or all you did was add it to your cart? Because I just got a email 82 emails saying that my cart hunt was removed because all the registration has closed.

I'll throw this out there. I'm 4 for 4 killing critters on the SOA hunts the past few years. I'm really familiar with Portland in particular. I've got a nice canopy tent, 2 cots with memory foam mattresses, coolers, cookware, etc. And I'm a half decent cook.

If anybody wants to make me a +1 I promise I'll be a good compadre.

I gotcha, did someone explain that to you or did you read it somewhere? Time i go to Iowa in 4 to 5 years i will probably get drawn.

Just what I've seen as I register. You build a point per application and lose them if you're drawn.

@gcr0003 I figured you were joking but I've seen some really asinine posts about the draw on aldeer and the local Facebook groups I sometimes visit. Folks get salty and love a rumor

Gotcha.

Meanwhile in my hunting area, the old timers are having "church meetings" encouraging everyone to fill all their tags since the deer keep eating the crops. Some fields have had 100+ deer grazing in the evenings.

Are you sure? I thought it was species points, so it doesn’t matter which hunt you register for as long as its deer you get species points.
You know they could clear up a lot of confusion if they would just PUBLISH THE DANG RULES!!!

So if u don't get a draw and don't have private land back up does that mean u don't get to hunt or is there areas that don't require the same paperwork?

The vast majority of Alabama public is open-access. You couldn't hunt it all if you tried. The draw hunts are usually nicer. But some of the new ones look like crap tbh and I've hunted some real nice open access stuff
