Beast sticks or EWO

Hello, I'm trying to decide between Beast Minis with the 18" step or the EWO with a 20" step. I'm not interested in the full size Beast sticks because I don't like a 22" step. I will be using 18" EWO cable aiders. This will be my first set of mobile sticks. . I'm not going to lie I will be using my LW Alpha 2 hang on. I came here because I figured I'd get my best advice on this forum. From what I have read a lot of people like the EWO stand off and really like how the Beast bite into the trees. I'd love to get some opinions on which ones you like the best and why. Ty

EWO standoffs give more spacing from tree

Beast stack in line

Beast steps have 2 bolts

EWO steps have a nice slot for aiders

Honestly, I think you can go wrong with either of these options. Both standoffs grip the tree great, both sticks are light weight and both are high quality. I personally like the way beast sticks stack inline vs stacking staggered so they get a vote up for that reason. All in all, they are both great. I did a rope mod on my beast sticks vs using straps.

I think they’re close in quality with EWO being a bit better/perceived durability. Stacking goes to the beast sticks. Stand offs and steps go to the EWO stick. In the end the standoffs were too short on the beast stick for me. If you have smaller feet they might work well for you. I just took some pics of the two stand offs one a stick together for reference EA012BC4-DC79-4CB6-B703-C16D71F3EACB.png35BEA255-3DA9-41B0-A014-FBF5ABBC87E6.png35BEA255-3DA9-41B0-A014-FBF5ABBC87E6.pngEA012BC4-DC79-4CB6-B703-C16D71F3EACB.png35BEA255-3DA9-41B0-A014-FBF5ABBC87E6.png

+1 for the Beast Sticks - I had an EWO featherlight single stick. Ended up bending the bottom stand-off. Fat kid problems I know!

Can't speak for the Beast sticks as I have not had them or used them. I will say I am on my 3rd season with my EWO sticks and will not trade or sell them for nothing. I have had no issues and they just work.

Both are great options! I’ve used both over the last two years and have stuck with the EWO sticks. I just really feel safer (more footing) on the EWO sticks but both are super high quality and bite into the tree with aggression! Customer service at both companies are top notch and craftsmanship is great with each as well. If one sticking or two sticking I would highly suggest the EWO while if planning to use three or more you might prefer the stacking of the beast sticks.

Thanks for all of the replies. I was planning on using 3 sticks with 20" steps and three 18" cables. I'm 6 feet tall. Does anyone have a rough idea how high that might get me?

I've read the beast stick standoffs can be sharp and tear up clothing and what not. Hasn't been mentioned, so maybe that's not true anymore.

I’m in the EWO camp. I could not fit my boots on the Beasts because of the stand off distance. Made them useless for me. EWO are quality and seem like they will last a lifetime/ pass down etc.

The set of Beast Sticks that I owned had very sharp edges and I cut my hands a few times climbing on the steps.

I would say between 13-15 feet depending on spacing with your suggested setup.

If I can only get 13-15 feet with that set up I might need to get 4 sticks and not 3. That's kind of a bummer I thought that I might have been a little higher then that with the aiders, but I've never done it before that's why I'm asking. Ty

If you do the math, with a 20in step between the ground and 1st step(aider) then stick-stick 14.5ft but you can stretch it further with your height, plus stepping up onto a platform. If you add a 3 step aider only on the 1st step like I do you would be at 17.5ft approximately.

I came up with 14.5ft. You might try a multi step aider vice cable aider for your initial stick to extend your overall height.

Have you considered trying a moveable 3-4 step aider with two or three sticks? Or even one sticking?

I have the full size Beast sticks and think they are great. But the EWO standoffs give so much more room. Can’t go wrong with either I think, both great choices.

I have seen the one sticking method and I'm personally not a fan. I do like 2-3 step aider on the first stick. I'd be fine with 17.5 feet

3 step aider on the first stick and 1 or 2 step aider on the other 2 should get you there or very close.
