In my opinion, the math doesn’t make a whole lot of sense in regards to the EZV. There’s a compelling case for folks with bad eyesight, who use the tick marks and still range things in the woods. That’s about it. As far the ranging capability, it’s not what it is marketed to be.
if you’re hunting whitetail deer with a compound bow shooting at least 250fps, and don’t shoot them past 30 yards, there’s no need to use anything other than a single pin sight.
if you’re shooting them past 30 yards, the loss of precision in ranging with the EZV would make most hunters uncomfortable with their odds of actually hitting a deer where they intend to. The only way it continues to get used as a ranging device at those distances is someone being ignorant of those odds, or not caring that they’re so low. I’m not making a moral judgment, I’m just pointing out facts.
