About to order my first saddle . I like the idea of a two panel system but I would like some real world reviews from guys who use one

Just got it. Played with it in the yard. Learning curve but I think it will be comfortable

I have never sat in the ESS but, I have a TreeHopper Recon which is almost identical. It's probably my second favorite saddle behind my Kestrel.

If your looking for a two panel saddle in that price range I would recommend saving $30 and going with TreeHopper and their stellar customer service reputation.

I have the recon, couldn’t possibly love it more. I did a few mods to it but it’s much more comfortable than any single panel I’ve been in and about half the weight.

I had an ESS. Swapped the bridge for an amsteel adjustable bridge. I liked it and killed with it. It’s comfortable. It’s super adjustable. The only thing I didn’t like about it was wearing it in and out of the woods. I couldn’t quiet figure out how to keep the panels together.

I went from the Phantom to the ESS. It was a little tough in the beginning, the straps were actually twisted, and it took me a few sits to figure that out.
In the end I am glad I switched I like the options the two panel system gives you.

This is gonna be my first ever saddle so I figured if I start with a two panel it will make switch later to a one panel easier if I choose

Also the Recon is made in the USA. Don't believe the ESS is.

May want to look at the latitude method 2.... I can’t speak to the other 2 panels. I came from a kestrel and the more I use my method 2 the more I love it. Walking into stand is nice because it’s held together with magnets. No flopping around. I find it very comfortable. Leg straps are removable, if that bugs ya. It has a metal free design. I was unsure of the rope belt at first but after using it , it just works and it works well. Every other saddle I have owned I had to wear suspenders because of no assatall..... I don’t need them on the method 2. Best part ,I took it out of the box put latitudes dump pouches on it and use it stock. No mods at all. Honestly I can’t think of any mod that it would need and love to mod stuff. Also it’s nice because you can mount your dump pouches forward of your lineman loops but u still have room to use them. On my kestrel I stopped using dump pouches because they were on my butt. Not convenient at all. Just my opinion, u may get one and hate it. Saddles are like boots just got to try them out and see what works for you. The reason I picked the method 2 is they have a 30 day money back deal. So I knew if I hated it I could send it back and try something else out. Also they made in Michigan. If I can buy American that’s what I’m going to do even if it cost a lil more.

This was great thank you . I’m going to look into one now

If you watch John's video he designed it to be packed in and put on at the tree.... The clips are supposed to help if you do walk in, but the designer of the saddle packed his in....

I really like my ESS, but I haven't tried anything else. I have found it to be very comfortable and haven't done any mods at all. Would have gotten a Recon but found a good deal on the ESS. They are similar but if buying new I would probably go with the Recon ('Merica). I agree the ESS does not walk in well, or hold pouches well without sliding down, etc. It wasn't designed to do that so I don't fault it. Like John Eberhart I am walking in with everything in my pack and putting on at tree. I never know the exact tree I'm gonna climb, hell I might just sit on the ground that day so I just wait til I'm ready to climb. Also, I am always quartering and packing meat out, so my pack is already big, and I like having nothing on my body except the pack.

Come to the light, the JX3 tree saddle light..............
Don't be afraid, you will sit from dark to dark very comfortably, be able to snooze when you want, no dreaded hip pinch, no back aches, you can shoot 360° around the tree with any weapon, bow or gun.
No platform required, only a ROS, no sore feet, no knee pads required, no sore knees, no tired legs from leaning as you can sit all day, built in pack frame for carrying all your needs. No getting into “saddle shape” as your Lazy Boy at home does it for you. Buy once, cry once.

Just to pick nits a little. The ESS is almost a direct copy of the Anderson sling that has been around for 30+ years. You might already know this but, just thought it was worth noting that it's a design that was first brought to market in the 80's I believe, then remade by TreeHopper, then remade again by Tethrd. I believe John is still hunting out of his modified Anderson.

First saddle I had. Couldnt dump it quick enough. It is imo the most comfortable saddle ever made with the adjustability. But hated everything else. The panels don't stay together no matter what you do walking in. It's noisy as hell. Just a big wind chime essentially. Too much metal all over the place. The big metal rings add nothing imo. Just get the finest and be done with it. The Cruzr XC
