2 steps sticks suggestions

So I recently purchased 5 Wild Edge step and a knaider swaider and its not for me. They are for sale is anyone is interested. I know a lot of people that love them.

I am/was using the hawk helium 3 step but they weigh a ton and are not great for being mobile. I am minimalist when it comes to saddle hunting. I hunt private so I'm not having to travel far or carry much in the woods.

I am looking for 4 two step sticks. I want them light and packable. Any suggestions? I plan to run a 2 step aider on the first and then 1 step the rest of the way up.

What do you suggest? I thought about cutting down my hawk stick but doesn't seem worth it to me.

What’s packable? Do you mean folding like a shikar or a helium?

what kind of aider? Some aiders might interfere with how the sticks fold or nest together.

Good questions:

1)Something that I can strap to my badlands monster fanny and be handsfree.
2) Folding?
3) not set on an aider. If I have four sticks, I may not need a 2 step aider. I have seeing a couple guys using a one step aider loop and just moving it from stick to stick. Just like this -

Ha, we're in the same boat. I started with full length heliums then went to WE steps and didn't like them. I switched last year to the novix mini double steps with a cable aider. I really like them. Stack well, pack well, and not too expensive. I still feel like they're really light too.

Did you ever consider one sticking?

I looked in to it briefly but it just doesn't look like something I want to try. Maybe down the road but most of the time 3 sticks is all the height I need, so I'm not worried about it.

I would suggest cutting down your Hawk sticks and adding a two step aider to each. You'll get the same height as a full size stick with a single aider but with half the weight and bulk.

I realize it is not exactly the answer to the question you asked but I thought I would throw this out there. If you are hunting private and can do it look into tree bolts. There are quite a few threads on these. You can do presets with an electric drill and mobile hunt with a hand drill. I would use them all the time if I had much private to hunt. For me, 12 bolts at 22 inch spacing will get me 20 feet and the whole thing packs down small. Use grade 8 bolts, 3/8 by 6 inch. They have a tensile strength of 150,000 psi.

This is what I run now. Instead of 2-step fixed aider, I run a knaider/swaider (no hooks just 2" webbing). Works great for me. I ended up with 13.5" step to step, 16.6" overall, 2.2lbs per stick. Can reach 18ft (plus another foot or two depending on where my platform lands). I do strap them to my fanny pack and don't even have to take off the pack to deploy sticks. At this point it is hard for me to spend the money on better sticks because the weight savings isn't as much.

I plan on setuping up more next season. I have a couple spots set up.

I’m about to pull the trigger on either the tethrd skeletor sticks or the trophy line double step sticks. Both look like great sticks and I’m torn between the two. I’m in your position where I could run bolts, but it’s so easy to just set up the few sticks. Curious to know if you’ve thought of either of those two, or maybe you’re thinking more on the premium sticks?

I’d go with the TL sticks. Being built in a standard fashion (1” tube, etc), they’ll allow you to more easily modify them when the itch has to be scratched.

I started with OG lone wolfs. too long for me. then tried the knaider/swaider and WE stepps. too fiddly for me. then I got Hawk minis with ultimaider and swapped them cam buckles for amsteel daisy chains and used truckers hitch. this was pretty good but wasn't happy with Hawk standoffs. Now I mostly one-stick with a 15 inch EWO with scout on top, but some trees just suck to 1-stick in, so I have the Skeletors if I know I'll be in areas with those trees. I have been happy with their attachment method, stacking method, tree gripping and standoff height. the amsteel wraps nice and tidy like. definitely a solid choice and my go-to budget set of sticks. I use 3 with the Ultimaider.

Beast minis for the money for me.... I bought one on here for 80 bucks and loved it and then just happened to find a set of 5 on here for 380.... I've made aiders and typically use 3 to get to around 18 feet but I'm seriously considering just leaving the aiders at home and bringing all 5 or 6... they fit really nicely on the back of my pop-up 28 and I always end up putting a stick at normal spacing cuz cover where I can shoot always seems to be between 10 and 14 feet... then you just have an aider hanging in your way...

Thanks for pointing that out. I think I was getting caught up in the look of the skeletor. Time to order them and then look at some aiders!

Rogers sporting goods has hawk helium sticks for $79 for the 4 pack. I would buy them before I cut down any sticks I already had.

I had a coupon for some trophyline/novix double steps. So instead of $229.99 I ended up paying $183.99

Man I just ordered two packs of these a couple weeks ago when they were $89. Tempted to get a couple more sets. Hard to beat at that price point.
